Title: yzf 600r rear
Post by: Fred on September 15, 2009, 02:22:04 PM
Anyone know the width of the collar (spacer) on the disc side of a yzf 600r rear wheel? just realized my wheel didn't come with it. trying to fab something so I can make it to the rally.
I can get the diameter of the piece and of the hole with what I have here, but trying to get width would be at best a guess.

TIA,
Fred

If you can't fab one real quick, Come on down anyway. I will toss the one from my spare wheel in the tank bag. I leave cincinnati tomorrow around noon.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, but in my ham fisted attempt at getting this going I have broken the rear master cylinder mount. So it looks like I'm dead in the water, unless I find the part in the tri-county area, yeah, fat chance.  :ireful:  :dash1:

Fred,

you broke the rally rule.

no major work just before a rally.

I know, I didn't plan it that way, it just kind of developed. I wanted to use all of the current tire before I made the switch, then there were delays with the machining. ( can't complain a friend squeezed it for me at his shop for free) I tempted the motorcycle gods and was rebuked :sorry:

Fred. What did ya break on the rear master mount? One of the bolt holders? Mine also broke when I did my yzf600 rear swap. The brake stay arm was offset too far and caught the master cylinder bolt when the suspension collapsed enough upon the first large bump. Anyways I jammed it back in with only the stub sticking through the bolt hole on the footpeg bracket and the other bolt holding it on. No probs for 5-7k km's. I should be looking for a new master but have not got around to it yet. Also with the monoblocks up front, the rear brake hardly gets used.
Cheers...Jake

I broke the mount on the peg bracket. I tend to use my rear brake, more than I thought actually. I rode around here for a bit with it and was uncomfortable about it. While I could get used to it, the hills of North Carolina would not be the place to do it.

What a downer just b4 a rally. I've done it myself - work on what on the face of it should be a five minute job. Next you know you've gone backwards in time. Lessons learnt I suppose. Andy
Just zip tie the bugger on and go to the rally anyway.
