Hi. This is a question regarding my headlight short/ problem. Turn the key and everything is on. The light goes off but the fuse is good and wires seem to be in order. Hit a bump and it comes on sometimes. This is an '89 FJ1200. What am I missing? No high or low beam.
I'd be suspicious that there may be broken parts in the headlight switch.
Other things to check (as always with electrical problems) include frayed insulation, broken wires, loose bits contacting wires or terminals, and non-functioning relays.

I had my head light go out. And I checked the starter button. And it wasn't sticking. Could be your problem. But mine was the connection between the main wiring harness and the harness going to the left handlebar was corroded.

+1, that was my reaction. Start simple...

yep, start simple, check the lamp plug to see if it wiggles...it shouldn't.

This.... make sure the starter button doesn't stick in slightly, pull out on the outer end. If the light comes on, you found it. Next the lamp socket, then start checking connectors and wiring...
