LOL! Thank you. Finally some sanity. The bigger question would be, "Why?"

I'm wondering the same thing... Resistance?  I've also considered that they may need to be supported somehow, so the plug doesn't break off...

Yep, support is needed and you would need a complete ignition system compatible with COP units.
I have not seen a 3 ohm or 2.2 ohm COP compatible with the oem or Dyna ignitions.
Drag bikes may be different but for a street bike, it's a tough environment down there, toasty hot and a lot of engine vibes.

Much can be said about mounting the coils on the frame in the front, with a nice stream of air cooling them.

Pat, it looks like you've surrendered to the temptation of discussion?     :flag_of_truce:

I would say the mounting height and air-cooled head are two major problems. I can't think of any COP ignitons that we could retro into the space under the gas tank. Maybe it time to build a Microsquirt system and convert the FJ to fuel injection. Thats something i have longed to do.

My BMW1150GS has these, they are fired by a 12volt signal. Also in the 74,000 miles I've had the bike, I've bought about 5 replacements. So they are consumable items, well, on the BM anyway, where they rust and die! :negative:

BTW. Before anyone assumes that i'm attempting it or asking for instructions to do so....

I only asked for a tech debate/discussion. Just because  (popcorn)

Well, for a tech question - how "hot" are commonly available COPs compared to Dyna coils available for the FJ?
