Title: 89 FJ 1200 kick stand
Post by: Oman75 on March 10, 2013, 06:34:23 PM

I purchased a 1989 FJ and took it for an eighty mile ride. I have only one problem which I find annoying and this is the kick stand. When I stop and attempt to place the stand in the down position I must look down and position my foot between the rear foot peg and the shift lever. This is the first bike I have owned with this type of a problem. I have had nine bikes in the past. I asked my mechanic what he would suggest for a fix and he thought by welding an extension to the kick stand it would take care of my problem.
Any other suggestions?

Welding an extension would work, but what happens when you come down to Florida and borrow one of mine to ride? Be a bummer if you dropped someone else's bike, huh?

When I use the FJ kickstand, my heel just naturally "finds" the nub, and down it goes. No thought or looking to it! Pure muscle memory.

Think of it as learning a new kata in a martial art.

...then you can add it to your resume!

Are you SURE your bike has the proper kickstand? Stranger things have happened. Someone MAY have swapped it with a HARLEY sidestand!

Hope this helps.   :hi:
