Hi all. Im 28, bought my fj earlier this summer. My friend had an fj in high school that I really liked, so when my finances said I couldn't buy a new bike this year I immediately set my sights on a fj1200. I paid a little too much for it, at $1800 for my 89' with 28000miles. I didn't have it for more than a few days before the carbs started leaking fuel all over. So I stuck another $700 into it to have the carbs completely rebuilt, valves adjusted since they were easy to access (good thing as they were really tight on the exhaust side), and a full front brake rebuild. It still needs a chain and sprockets but I'm waiting for the rear tire to be toast to do it all at once. I got too much $$$ into it to sell now, but every time I ride it I'm glad I'm keeping it. Future mods include suspension work and some kind of luggage setup. It already has a full supertrapp exhaust and k&ns so I'm happy performance wise. Love the site, ride safe!
welcome to the group!
for that kind of repair money you could have bought some really nice tools.......the FJ is super easy to work on and it's my opinion that a owner should get his hands dirty from time to time
