Title: Clutch puch rod.....
Post by: DreadRock on February 04, 2013, 11:40:52 AM
Was hoping someone can help out  :scratch_one-s_head:  Im going on a trip in may so was going over the FJ . Notice a small leak coming from behind the front sprocket cover . When i pulled the Master slave the push rod slide a lil bit out with it which freaked me out lol. Did slide right back in but heres my freaking out : After looking on a parts list i see theres a small ball and washer and was wondering if i should worry that they might have fallen down into the oil pan ?????? Any thought on this i put the slave back on and seems to be working right but still not sure !!!!!
Thanks

you are ok, if the clutch still works everything is still in place.

there is a seal for the pushrod that should be changed when you take the slave off just for a pm measure.

probably the source of your leak.

You're fine!

UNLESS; You started the engine while the slave cylinder was unbolted!  OMG you didn't do that did you???!!!!
It is a well documented internet fact here that you will ONLY lose the ball bearing if you start the engine with the slave cylinder off.

BUT; in order for this to happen, you must also be using DOT 5 brake fluid and bias ply tires.
Oh yeah, you've also got to have NON-synthetic oil in the crankcase and a filter that is at least 2 oil changes old.
Have you had any SOLENOID problems lately?
Are your brake shims properly installed?

Seriously, are you seeing an engine oil leak or could it be chain goo dripping down?  Lot of crud builds up under the countershaft sprocket cover.

The leak isnt alot just small drip here and there . When i looked close didnt see any guy hanging off bottom of the motor with small oil can  :good:   Going to wipe it all down and clean , make sure oil level is correct , take out for ride ( with clutch cover on acourse ) then pull back off and see whats up !
