Title: CDI units
Post by: FJ111200 on January 26, 2013, 03:45:56 AM
Has anyone used a 1200 1TX, or 1UX if in USA, CDI unit on an 1100 36Y, or 50H USA, model?

I recall someone posting that the CDI boxes from the bikes that had gravity-fed carbs could be used interchangeably between their years. But not to use a CDI box from fuel pump model on a gravity-fed model.

Not sure though. Perhaps someone else has better info on it.

I'll take it as a no then.
The reason being is that i'm using all FJ1100 electrics on my XJR1200, and i've noticed that the first FJ1200's were using 1100 coils aswell as the pick up coils, so thought it might be the way to go with a 1TX (1UX) CDI which doen't require the advance to work off the intake manifold spigot.

OK then, i bought a 1TX CDI unit out of curiosity and guess what?  It won't fire up with the FJ1100 electrics.
So, does anyone from the UK want to buy it off me at cost price of £25 plus the postage or make me a reasonable offer?
