Title: Paging Frank Moore, Re. Ceramic Headlight Connector
Post by: SlowOldGuy on January 23, 2013, 05:27:05 PM
Hey Frank,
Where do I get the ceramic headlight connectors?

I've used up the ones I had and can't rermember where I ordered them from.  But I do remember that you were the one that originally advertised them.

Thanks bud,
DavidR.

Here's another option.  Also got the necessary connectors from him to fix a VFR800 wiring mess.

David,

how do you "use up" a headlight connector?????

either eastern beaver or electrical connection was where i bought mine.  The ebay ones look ok though they are not 90 degree plugs like the ones i got.

Thanks everyone.

I'll go with Frank's source, I also like the 90 deg angle ones.

Frank,
I only bought 2 originally but now have 3 bikes with a total of 4 headlights.  The idiot I bought the FZ from used vampire splicers to wire in headlight modulators.  Some of the wires are now marginal and chronically losing voltage (the headlights sometimes just go out until I wiggle the connector wire).  Unfortunately he spliced in right at the connector so there's no room to repair the wires and I need to replace the whole connector.

Thanks,
DavidR.

Autolumination.com has a 90 deg, but it says 16 gauge leads.  My old one appear to be 14 or maybe even 12ga.

What wattage are you running David?
Yea, my leads are 16 gauge, however, I was thinking that it's such a short distance, the voltage drop between 16 vs 14 vs 12 gauge is minimal.

Pat,
I'm running 80/100W bulbs on the FJs, at least until I convert them to HID.

In the FZ1, I'm running one 35W/6000K HID and a 55/60W halogen bulb.

I was a little concerned at small gauge of the stock connector harness wiring, but so far no problems.

This option is also available at Auto Zone. $10.49 for the pair.
They are not ceramic, but says they are good up to 482 degrees F.
