Howdy all,
Something I forgot to talk about at our maintenance day at The Generals was what battery everyone was using. I replaced my Yuasa in Jan 2012 with one from this mob http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/ (http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/)
After getting a few prices of around $170.00 for the Yuasa, I found Batteries Direct, they had an SSB Maintenence Free model for..... $67.00 Delivered! One year warranty, higher CCA than the Yuasa, and I figured if it only lasts 2 years I'm still ahead. The model I got was the YTX14-BS. So far very happy with it, and it keeps its charge well. They also have the new Lithium range etc as well.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there, I'm not paying stupid prices for batteries anymore, :drinks:
Hoo Roo
im with you on this one, i had only ever bought yuasa batteries, only to have them crap out in 12 months, shit cca and acid to leak/ top up,, had nearly 12months from the agm type about the same price as yours from an aussie ebayer , wont bother buying lead acid again

Still starts on the 1st compression stroke.
Harvy
Holy heck Harv, 380CCA! I'd never heard of SSB before, but they are quite good I reckon.
I used to use Yuasa, better then any other lead acid battery. These lasted three or so years but the battery was starting to show less cranking power after a year.
Then I bought a DEKA battery, it is now ten years and two months old starts like a new battery, it paid itself off three times over but cost 50% more. Not only that but even if the bike sits for a couple of months without any charge and still starts like new.
PS Just to make it clear, I do not sell or work for any battery company. I mentioned DEKA but there are other equivalent brands.
