Hello, just a wee post to introduce myself.
Bought my first FJ1200 last night, awaiting delivery.
I also currently have the following. Honda Goldwing GL1500, CBX750FE( for sale ) and a VF500F2.
Ive had a few bikes in the past ranging from a tomos moped, ZZR1100, XJ900s, MZ251, H100, RXS100, XS250, CB250n, CD200, passola,GP100, GPz305 and a very nice XJR1300.
I had two dream bikes as a boy, one was the CBR1000f and the other......you guessed it, an FJ1200 so I'm a very happy man or at least i will be when it arrives from Cumbria.
Cheers
Mark
Welcome Mark from another Mark, what year did you get? Ambulance Red and White, theft deterrent Silver and White, Manly Pink stripe?
Thanks for the welcome Mark. Mine is a 1991 and its blue and white with a lovely pink stripe, takes care of my feminine side haha.
It gets delivered a week today snow permitting ! so its a days holiday and a bit of waiting for me.
What about yourself......Ambulance red ??
Welcome from another Scotsman.Im in the good old USA now lol......
Scott.........
Thanks, what madeyou move accross the pond apart from the cold, wind and rain :)
Welcome to the group. When the weather clears up and you can ride, you will find the Kookaloo zone......
Fred
Fred, cheers for the welcome.............now what is the kookaloo zone ? :)
Been here since 1979, came over with my familly when I was 18.
Welcome Mark!
You picked the right bike between the FJ and the big Hurricane. I had one, and it was a bit of a let down. Ultimately, it was too long and grandfatherly, with a serious lack of torque down low that was as bad as a 600. It spun up OK and was more fun at 9K RPM, but the weight and lack of flick-ability made it fun for big sweepers, and less so for the tight stuff.
The FJ is definitely the more sporty of the two bikes. If you wanted a distance bike, the FJR will fit that bill just fine.
Dan
:hi: A warm welcome to ya from Australia Mark. That`s an impressive Motorbike owning history. Don`t let that pink stripe get to ya. I reckon you blokes are real men! All that chill factor - and no undies! (Do they make kilts in leather yet?) :drinks:

I have the Red and White 86' the one in the pic on the left, I am also known as the Red Power Ranger. Better than an ambulance driver... :blum1: But it would be fun to put lights and a siren on and watch all the cagers get out of the way.
Funny... back in the day, I also test rode both a lightly used Hurricane and the '89 FJ I still own today.
The 'Cane was a very nice bike, but it just wasn't an FJ. :unknown:
Welcome aboard ! When you get some time post a picture of your new machine:). Hope you will enjoy the world wide group of FJ owners. The sun never sets on an FJ owner.....

Fred, cheers for the welcome.............now what is the kookaloo zone ? :)
From the Urban Dictionary....
1. kookaloo
That feeling you get when you roll on the throttle of your motorcycle and you have to hold on for dear life!
FJ1200, most late model big bore sport bikes. Kookaloo!
Hi mate I'm not a million miles away, originally from East Kilbride but now in West Calder. Bought a 91 FJ last year as a project but haven't started yet. 4 wheeled project currently emptying my bank account.
Anyways welcome and all the best with your FJ in the future because you'll be mad to do any miles on it at the moment.
Need pics when you get it!
Cheers
Alan
Cheers for all the comments guys. Alan, small world mate. I am originaly from East Kilbride, brought up there for 24 years before i moved out this way. Good luck with the project when you get it started. I do a few restorations myself but only bikes, cars are the devils work..............but i have one lol.
Fred, i like it, hoping it has almost the same Kookaloo as my zzr11 that could tear your arms out at the sockets but its not an never will be in the same league as the FJ in my book :-D
Well It looks like i picked the right bike, Im usually a Honda man but the FJ just seemed to have that something special over the CBR. Roll on next Tuesday and here's hoping the snow goes away !!!!
Not sure about the red power ranger........Always fanciest Darth vader Suit myself. The bike looks great by the way :)
General, thanks for the comments and yes i have a long and twisted bike history, they are the ones i can remember lol. I never wear anything under the kilt and yes you can get leather kilts from certain shops i would imagine haha

Check with Randy at www.RPMracingca.com (http://www.rpmracingca.com) he is a Renntec dealer and offers good prices for FJ Engine Guards. Even shipping overseas according to some members here.
Thanks for the tip, i will look into it :)
aaaaahhhhhhh noooo dont look at rpm, thats how it starts  ,, your done for now, mind you, i think moditis is contagious, the moment you own an fj your infected
Mark,
Welcome to the group. If you liked the XJR you should love the FJ. And you made a mini FJ out of an XS250! I think it was meant to be. I'm near you in Newton Mearns. I've had FJs for 20+ years. Contact me if you need any help with yours. Post a photo of the bike when it arrives.
I'm also a former MZ rider - but I'm better now!

Yup, he's fucked now...as RPM is the yellow brick road to Moditis!! :yahoo:
Welcome to the club! :drinks:
"My name is Leon, and I'm a modaholic"! bwahaha!! :wacko2:
Hi Mark. Welcome to the site. Yes theres heaps of very useful info and some brilliant reading of peoples expeditions and humour. As mentioned RPM is addictive. Randy helped me with a few issues. When spare time finds its way to the PC have a look at the RPM site. needless to say that I now have a huge wish list / "am getting". Am going to get it all in one go might be cheaper on freight to this end of the world. Anyway goodluck with your bike. Jeff
Cheers Guys, so RPM is a big deal in the states and i can see why, lots of goodies to be had.
Been looking through the site at work and its brilliant, everything i ever wanted to know about the FJ and a few things i should'nt haha
As for Moditis.....I have had it for years as you can see by the xs250 i contacted it at a young age and it has been bankrupting me ever since
I have posted 2 or 3 pics of the bike in the gallery if anyone wants to take a look, not great but i will get some better ones on Tuesday.
Stuart, thanks for the welcome. Always good to have someone close by for advice etc. Are there any more of us around this neck of the woods ? MZ.....Mine didn't last long either
:bomb:
Oh yes and on the subject of moditis, this is how my xjr ended up before i sold it
