I dont know if its of interest but I have been watching the prices of FJs around victoria ( Australia) I just saw one 88 model Black/midnight blue on ebay with an apparent 28k on the dial sell for nearly $4000.Reg only no RWC. I also know of another one same year and color (Black/Midnight blue ) go for $2300 No REG or RWC. Had 65k on it. I got talking to a Bike exhaust manufacturer in QLD a few days ago, he was telling me they are becoming more and more popular, even more so with the younger riders due to performance, comfort and serviceability Nice to see that the old faithfuls are getting a lot of interest,
Yep, they are holding their prices well thats for sure. I put a couple of links in the "Downunder" topics section for a couple of ebay FJs too Jeff, one in Brisbane. Wish I had some spare cash ...............
Seems like the prices shot up fast.I got mine a few months ago for 1500.I put pics up and showed it here. They were 2 or 3 others i wanted to look at the most expensive one was 1800.Now i see five on craigslist the cheapest one is 3200.Seems like they are popular all of a sudden..

Hey you Colorado types, here's a couple of seats real cheap up in Evergreen. A Corbin and a stock one for a scant $50. If I were local, I'd look into it.

Thanks for the info, Craig.
I just called the guy, (the call was kind of choppy) and he stated that he's not at home right now. I asked him to contact me when he gets back.
Price is right, and I could use another seat for the other bike. The Corbin can be re-covered.
Steve
That's what I was thinking too Steve.
I am not fond of Corbins as they make me sit too low and rearward. I like being a bit more over the front end of the bike when I get aggressive and the Corbin is not conducive for that. At least for me....
I was looking to replace my stock seat as it's beginning to get a rip in it. Also, the foam is shot too. So, I think I'll take it to an upholstery shop local and see what they can do for it. It'll need a pan up restoration.
Hope it works out for you,
CraigO
I know a guy here in Central Florida that makes and repairs seats (Mark Thrasher, Thrasher Seats), and have witnessed the process.
http://www.thrasherseats.com/ (http://www.thrasherseats.com/)
He says that you just need the seat pan for the bike, and then anything is possible.
I don't really *NEED* either of these seats, but $50.00 for TWO!!!???!!!
If anyone else is desperate for a seat, be my guest, otherwise, I'll jump on the deal.
Let me know.
Steve
Yes it is a good buy for someone to fix up. They are not that hard to repair. I would recommend finding an upholstery shop that caters to the used car lots and get a cost on replacing the panels. Usually cheap.
I have purchased two FJ s in Quebec in the past two years. They are very strict on leaving bikes original so they typically have no mods whatsoever . I purchased a 1990 with 75,000 kilos for 1300. All it needed was a front tire which I had. Put a plate on it and drove her home aprox, 700 kloms. The second machine was a 1989 with 85,000 kloms and paid 900. They have certification issues there that make it costly to re license a bike. So once th insurance and plate run out they are not expensive to buy.
Funny i just posted this exact topic under a different name a month ago. Fj prices i noticed are starting to tick up.
My dad explained once....Motorcycles are like fine wine or brandy. Certain years represent things to different people. You cant go wrong investing in older bikes.
Plus once those people get older and have all the money and anything they start longing for the things they couldnt have when they where young and reverting backwards.
