Title: Cycle Gear Grip Heaters
Post by: rktmanfj on January 07, 2013, 09:04:50 PM

Anyone got experience with these particular grip heaters?       :unknown:

The sale price looks pretty attractive to me.

Looks strange to me. I guess I could go over to the local store and see if they have any. The place is a bit schizophrenic on what they carry.

I stock, sell and use a similar set of grip heaters. Mine has a higher quality metal switch. I can't post the link from my cell phone, but you can find it by searching grip.

I like mine very much and have had them for couple years.

That's a good price,Randy.
What if you've already got some switches and wire, can you just buy the pads from somewhere?
Cheers

The nearest CG location to here is 120 miles away, so the pic is all I had to go on.

As Randy mentioned, the plastic throw on the switch was the only thing I could see wrong with the CG set.

I'd probably end up replacing it with a rocker switch anyway, so that's a non-issue for me.

Klavdy, I've never seen anyplace that just has just the components available separately.

Thanks, all.

I have not found a grip heater with just the pads. The wiring has a built in resistor to offer the two heat level options. The switch must the be a On-Off-On style switch that has a high enough amp rating to handle the electrical flow.

Not necessary and add the additional weight of the nonessential components to the bike.

All the little things start to add up.

Randy the racer!

How about cartridge insert heaters? (http://www.motorcycle.com/how-to/heated-grips-evaluation-71386.html)
Not everyone can use them though, looks like you need a "Tube" type handlebar.

I use these polly heaters on my TDM850 which has dirt bike 7/"8 handle bars.  They work awesome, but I don't think they will work with the narrower ID of the FJ bars.

Good to hear, might put them on the Tuono.
