Hello all,
I am looking to replace my gear shift shaft on my FJ1100, and am a bit confused about ebay sellers denoting their gear shift shaft using two part numbers, one for the 1100 and one for the 1200. Are they interchangeable? I would think not, but maybe someone has more knowledge than me.
cheers, Gareth
The Shift Shaft assy P/N 1TX-18101-00-00 is used on the 84 through 90 models. P/N 1TX-18101-01-00 is used on the 91 through 93 models.

Hello,
Thanks for the tip, the number I was using, 36Y-18101-01-00, seems to have been superceeded by the numbers you have.
cheers, Gareth
My mistake, the P/N 1TX-18101-00-00 is for 86 to 90 models. The P/N 36Y-18101-01-00 is the correct P/N for the 84/85 models.
They are all the same until the 1250/1300 was introduced. That one is 8mm longer.
May I inquire why you are changing yours?

Hello,
I will have to write some of these numbers down! I am changing mine as the splines are buggered, and the PO used a couple of screws to prevent the gear shift from moving on the spline, knowing my luck the spline will strip at the worst moment!
From what I can tell, all I have to do is remove clutch cover, remove clutch plates, use rattle gun to remove clutch basket, then slide the gear shift shaft from the gear box, slide another in, line up the selector prongs correctly and re-assemble....
God willing.
Cheers for the tips, Gareth
It'd be a good idea to replace the spring at the same time. It will break, eventually... The one that lives at the far end of the shaft, and centers the shaft between shifts.
