This is a cool concept I havent seen before. There is an internal flip down sun visor so you never have to worry about shades. I would be worried about fogging. thoughts?

Not really new....... I've had mine Vox Racing helmet now for around 4 years - Frank Moore bought it in the US for me and shipped it over.
Still going strong - tho I think Frank has given up on his - different shaped head I guess.

Not so new. I've got an HJC Symax II with the built in sun shade. Works pretty well, unless you have large eyeglasses on. Several other HJC helmets and some from other manufacturers also have built in sun shades.

I`ve had my HJC for about 4 years (ish , may not be quite as long as that)..lol ...definitely not new . Mine isnt really dark enough really so i tend not to use it . It is really handy for riding with the visor open though. you can also buy an amber coloured visor for mine .
Mine is a is-16 scratch

Different helmets for different shaped heads, I have a Vox, it fit well but everything literally falls apart. The inside visor, the outside visor, the hinges and it is noisy for my tastes. I have it Frankensteined together to make it work but would not buy it again. I found it to be very noisy as well. I prefer the open-faced shorty helmets around town but Bell helmets have always been my favourites. Must be made for my shape of head. (Insert joke here)

I must admit the thought of wearing an open faced helmet really scares me . I know it`s highly unlikely but coming off and landing on your chin would just be horrible . Not to mention being hit in the face by something . I know many people wear them but definitely not for me .
yes, helmets - very important.

I've never had but one ride in the VOX Harvy..... shortly after i got it i decided to go back to solid helmets instead of the flip up front type.
Schuberth also makes helmets with internal visors..... its a great idea and works perfectly.... especially when you are riding someplace where there is a lot of sun and shadow.
speaking of shorty helmets my cousin came off his harley after hitting a deer and landed right on his face... he had a real fun time with his jaw wired shut and then all the dental work to fix his busted out teeth...... i dont ever want an invitation to that party i can promise you.... even that hard core dumbass wears a full face helmet now even though he bitches about how he cant see as well out of it and its hot in the summer.
KOokaloo!
I have a jafrum i got for my birthday last year i have yet to wear it.That type has been around for a while.Don't know how well it works never used it yet..Jafrum also makes a bluetooth helment that sync's with your cellphone or mp3 player..
Just a question.Anybody ever try a modular helment.I don't like the thought of the whole front flipping up..
My Exo1000 has a flip down sun shield inside too, don't really use it too much though, not dark enough to matter much.

The modular vs. full face has been covered, opinions differed on this as the reliability of the latch to survive an impact, in spite of meeting some test standards, was questioned. I have been down a few times with my lid taking some damage. Not enough to worry me if I was wearing a modular, but it makes me think of the next time... So I am full face user all the time.
Back when I took a riding class I remember the instructor talking about modular helmets. He mentioned they are safe, but only latched. He said a lot of people don't latch them when they ride, so they pop open, he also said the helmets aren't tested while they're open, and a lot of people ride with the chin bar up when it's hot out. I dunno, I just assume wear my full face. ATGATT
My wife had a Vox modular and was involved in an accident and nothing strange happened. I have a lot of friends with them also and have not heard anything bad at all. Everybody uses them on long trips. When I use mine, I find when the visor is shut after awhile, I feel pressure on my cheeks that is not comfortable. Maybe my head is not shaped correctly for this make of helmet. (Insert joke here)

Here in the UK both the police and the Paramedics use flip front modular helmets . (shoei ones I believe ) .
Anyone seen or heard of a visor HUD yet? That would be the shizzle

Yes, I have seen them advertised. They are expensive.

All my life I wore helmets just like this one

Yes this is my helmet, I did just recently bought a full face helmet, only because I lost 2 pairs of sunglasses while riding my fj, never had this problem on my Harley, But on my FJ, maybe a full face will work better, When I get a pic of my full face, I'll post it
I've had the Bilt moduler from CycleGear for a year. It has the drop down sunglasses and I sometimes use them, but mostly if I remove the front section to make the helmet into an openface pilot type. Not bad for lower town speeds, but really not useful for the hiway on the FJ. I also have a half helmet that I never use on the FJ. The wind just smacks the rim and tries to lift it too much to be comfortable. The Bilt feels a little heavy in the hand, but actually rides pretty nice on the head. (My head, anyway. Your head may vary) My only complaint about it is that it could be vented a little better, but I'm considering some mods to the vent intakes..

Just bought a HJC modular and am really happy with it. The fit is really good for my fat head.(insert joke here). Got it from Royal Dist. in Ontario and was only 160 dollars delivered to me.
I have an HJC IS MAX, it's modular with an internal sunshade. The sunshade is nice, since I wear glasses. It gets me out of having to carry around a second set. The main reason I bought it, though, it was the most comfortable for me of any helmet I tried.
As far as the safety, I can see there being an issue with the bar not being latched all the way. You can't just flip it down, you have to tug and make sure it latched.
There is also a slight problem with fogging because the breath cups they sell for that model don't really work. Pinlock insert, however, helps a lot.
