On an 89 we just picked up the clutch does not engage until it is nearly let out all the way. It does not seem to slip. Is this an indication of wear to the disks?
Thanks
Jeff
flush the master and slave with new fluid first and see what ya get.

And I'd add bleed the system well too
Had a similar problem myself, turned out to be wear in the actuating pin that the handlebar lever contacts. Shimmed or spaced it out with some heads cut from small nails, sounds rough but hey it worked!

I had the same problem with my '85...turned out to be the
clutch lever. The wee nub on it that actuates the master cylinder piston was badly worn down. Changed out the lever and ...VOILA...all was well again :good2:
I've since changed the master cylinder (from a later model) and replaced the complete clutch line with a Stainless Steel braided one (colour matches the S S brake lines that I installed). Over the winter I will strip and rebuild the slave cylinder...along with a few other things on my 'FJ to do list' :good:
John.
Having this problem I revamped my master cylinder, fitted new metallic hose, changed to a ZZR 1100... nothing seemed to work. Until I glue a thin layer of cold welding glue to the inner pushrod cylinder. The wear on the inner cylinder was so much as there was no way of getting the correct lever distance
Thanks everyone,
Will give it a try

I'm going to have to disagree with what Alf posted.
Not sure why I have to disagree, other than I simply feel the need to disagree with Alf.

I disagree with your disagreement
Errrrrr.... what was the topic issue about?
