Wow, That had to hurt.  :empathy: And hurt the wallet for repairs. On a good note, it looks like the bike stayed out of the water.  :good:

At least his left pannier survived.  Shows you the thinking and design that Yamaha put into their panniers.  They must have known someone would need a quick auto detachable box.

That said, if it was a fixed unit (as in old fashioned bolt on luggage) I wonder if he'd have just slammed to a halt?

Altogether chaps....

"You spin me right round baby, right round......."

The talk down the pub later will be "ooooh yes...I remember the time I drove my FJR....got BOTH wheels of the ground donchaknow!"

Yup - I know these bikes handle like sail-boats sometimes, but thats no excuse for trying to park it alongside others in the Marina.....

Ok........after further investigation...and watching too much Columbo........I think I have solved this caper..

The boat (#2) did it....... and the victim was french Canadian....  :mocking:

....these are the facts......

#1. It is in Canada......note the Canadian flag in the background....
#2. It is also in the province of Quebec   a). no plates on the front of the cars    b). and A french flag hanging from boat number 2 denoting allegiance to France.
#3. Boat number 2 is the culprit.......if you look carefully...the name of the yacht is "Dewdrop". Only a frenchman would read "dewdrop" as "do drop"    :mocking:   :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Je ne sais pas.......hon hon hon hon.......  :empathy:

the victim was french Canadian....

Now, I award you HALF a cigar for spotting the french flag in the top left corner.

I didn't see that to start with, and thought it was British cars (We too have white plates to the front, and yellow to the rear)

BUT - We are BOTH wrong.  Well, you get to be HALF right.....

You mentioning france got me curious, so, I donned my Deerstalker and did some internet trawling.  Oh dear, I mentioned trawling....don't think the french fishermen will be too pleased......oh well...back to the story...

The rider is called Lolo, and he is a "Pro" rider for the French magazine "MotoJournal"  He's road tested many a bike before.

Here is the release from meltybuzz and Moto-journal.

"Lolo fell into the Port of Saint Martin en Ré, the new Regis?"

"We can not say enough, but we must be particularly careful when driving a two-wheeler!

A journalist from Moto-Journal has to pay the price - when it was filmed!

meltyBuzz (the company who released the video on behalf of Moto-Journal) was given permission to show you the spectacular fall.

Lolo, working at Moto Journal, has experience in riding bikes for journalists, and Moto-Journal. He tested the Yamaha FJR 1300.

One of the panniers of the bike caught against a metal bollard, which unbalanced the bike.

The shooting took place in the port of Saint Martin en Ré, France.

The motoring journalist was traveling along-side the water and fell with his vehicle, crashing against a ship. Fortunately for him, no serious injuries.

He dislocated his left thumb and gathered only a few bruises.

Lolo is in good spirits, even after his downfall, now being broadcast in various formats around the world.

Lolo (having chosen to permit the broadcast of the video), is now accused of having staged this fall for the media!"

:rofl2:...... I actually spotted the french flag on "Dewdrop".....lol....the other flag was red and white...so I assumed that it was Canadian because the names of the yachts were in English...... "Jangles" and "Dewdrop"...... I think the stunt would have been perfect if he landed in "Dewdrop" instead of "Jangles"..... :sarcastic:.  It is the Canadian way to poke fun at the french (Canadians)....... they consider themselves a little bit better than the rest of the country so they make for easy targets....  :mocking:  ........and if I ever get the chance to cross the pond and visit my place of origin...Edinborough Scotland ... I hope we can share a pint and a cuban..... I'll supply the Cigars and you can supply the Scotch Rye..... :drinks:
