Hi all, :drinks:
I'm "stokes" from Queensland Australia, with some 60 + years of riding and racing bikes. I'm currently into my 4th FJ and this is a 1991 FJ120ABS model, had this for about 9 years now and have 86000klms on the clock. They are a fantastic piece of machinery and go like the clappers. My other steed is a 1949 Triumph Speedtwin 500cc, which I have spent the last 4 years restoring.
In finding this forum I note a member called "ELIMINATOR" I do believe that although we are not known to each other, we hail from not far. I come from Shirley, Southampton, that was many, many years ago ~ in another life ~..
Well nice to be part of "FJowners" and hope to get a chance to chat to many members in the future.
stokes. :bye:

That`s the great thing about full face helmets. I love pulling up at Pete`s Bellbird Creek Tea House www.bellbirdcreek.com/ (http://www.bellbirdcreek.com/) with it`s kilometres of perfect twisties leading to the shop.. - and the guy you`ve been tailing with his sliders and repsol badges, discovers the headlight up his arse is from a DR650 with knobblies and a pensioner riding it on the way ta buy the family groceries. (Pete sells good vegies too). I got a mate in his eighties that does track work. I ride to Phillip Island (The long twisties way) with my 72 year old mate that rides a kwaka 1400rr (fastest production bike on the planet). His Son (in his fifties- but still club racing) rides up from Melbourne (1000 miles+) just so he can ride with his dad back down again. Yeah, the older I get, the faster I was - but, I once asked my young looking mate on tha Kwakka "whaaat isss ya ssssecret to find`n the ffffountain of Yyyoouuuu..th! ...What is in common with alllll tha bbbblokes like you (hic..up)" He told me that he had in fact researched & pondered this very question at length and came to the conclusion - the one thing they all had in common was this fact. "ththey....are all rrrratbags!" ...So thare ya have it...tha guys on this forum are in for a long long life. :drinks:
Welcome to the group Stokes.......where in Qld do you call home?
Cheers

:shok:Hi,
Other FJ's, well 1 and 2 got sold, for a change, 3 got rebuilt to 1500cc with new barrels and pistons ect. four I'm still ridding. I'm an EX VINCENT man, that is if there ever is an ex vincent man. When I got my first FJ, I was so imprested with the rider control and comfort both long and short distance ( rode to the first GP at Phillip Island ) when Gardener took the World Championship. I wrote to the General Manager Yamaha Motorcyles in Japan and expressed my feelings for such a great bike, I hadn't ridden with so much comfort and fun since my last Vincent 1000. Bit of the past, we oldies are good for a yarn if nothing else.
The handle of "stokes" is my none-de-plume from my navy days, Ex stoker Royal Navy, just kept it going.
My other passion is my Triumph Speedtwin, it takes me back to when I was a boy in the North of England "dreaming of things to come" That's another story and another time. I don't write a lot of s----t, as there's too mich of it out there and it smells, so forgive me, I just love motorbikes, have, all my life and will do till the end, what is left, So U all ride safe and enjoy.
Also - Hail from Warwick, looking over Cunninghams Gap, wonderfull place, been here nine years and retired from NSW central coast.

Many thanks for that explanation and a realy good oune at that. Brings back my memories of my son learing to do the on the little Suzzuki 80 I borought him and again my memories of my first bike riding in an ex army WELLBIKE I brought in 1946 and I thing my expression was OOOOO-MMMMMYYYY-GGGGGGGGGGGGG'd. The fealing of dashing down through the corn fields at rate of knots and getting the front wheel in the air - riders will be riders. :good: :good: :good:
