Title: Crash bars
Post by: Nova NS Wizard on November 07, 2012, 06:19:24 PM
Hey,
Has anyone tried the crash bars from the UK? I see REV has them now....but they look very large nd maybe a little too ugly?
I am going to place n order and thought about adding them....

If you think there ugly then think of needing them and not having them. Now that is ugly and $$$. I have seen them painted silver on an 89 and they look good. You can't hide what they are, just make them fit your FJ...

Who has them?

The previous dealer, REV's performance has gone out of business and I am wondering if he is trying to liquidate his inventory.

Here is the set Benjy just installed that he bought from RPM:

I would be interested to know.

Thanks, Randy - RPM

Yep, that is the bars I now have in stock. I do not have any photos of the bars on the bike yet. I have not had a chance to install a set to take photos.

Hopefully someone who has a set can supply the photo you are looking for.

Thank you, my goal is to provide the best products & service possible for your FJ. The thing with engine bars, is there is not other options that I am aware of.

Thanks everyone else for the :good2:, it makes me very  :i_am_so_happy:

Here is a close up.  I think they look nice.  I am more into the protection they give me.

Hadn't heard Revs went under.  Sad to see another supplier pack it in.

That being said, the Renntec bars are worth every penny.  My FJ did a slide down the highway, about 20 yards, and other than some cracked plastic and broken mirror, I picked it up and rode it home.

Sanded and painted the bars and they're still on the bike.

That picture is way better than showing a new set of bars. It shows how much damage it prevented....

OK, I'll play...Blue Power Ranger reporting in.
I wasn't a huge fan of how they looked on my FJ, but the piece of mind that comes with having them installed is very comforting.
I have really grown to like them and they also make for a great camera mount position.
Mine are also Renntec bars from our last group buy from REVs.
There is no need to be on the fence with this item...you buy them or take the chance of serious engine damage in the event of a tip over or slide down the highway.
They have also been known to protect your feet/ankles in a low side.

IIRC, the Renntecs even held up well and prevented more serious injury during Dean's critical event:
