Title: fj1100 setting needle pins
Post by: magnumsfj on November 03, 2012, 01:30:32 AM
So glad to find this site! Bought a 84 fj1100 a few weeks ago and am cleaning the lower bowls hoping it helps my carberator problems. I looked at some of the other postings and found where to set the needle pins but did not understand the terminoligy. What does " needle settings would be 2/3rd clip slot from the top " mean exactly? Also I am considering buying some carbs that are dialed in and ready to go, can you tell me where to look for something like that? Thanks Magnumsfj

They are talking about where the clip is set on the slide needle.  In most markets the slide needle has 5 grooves you can choose from to determine midrange mixture strength.  Due to EPA regulations, many years of FJ sold in the US have only a single groove.

In the "FJ Parts / Service Vendors & Discounts" section you'll find RPM and Weymouth399.  Both have offered new carb sets in the past and probably still do.

Welcome Magnumsfj, post up pics when you can, is this your first bike or first FJ?

Thanks Dave.  I guess we've already discussed your OCD, huh? :-)
