Feels like i lose power for a split second and then Bang! Jumps up to 9k and tries to rip my arms off. Normal?? Fun tho, now that im expecting it. First time happened on an on ramp, almost ate it.

The dreaded 2nd gear issue. I have it as well.. I short shift into 3rd by 6K to avoid it till I can split the cases and get the shift forks upgraded and gears under cut. It is kind of like a rev limiter but only in second gear....
Bad news: Your shift forks are buggered. Common problem with early FJs
Search under "2nd gear" and you will get the scoop. A also look in the Files for a tutorial.

Just read The 2nd gear fix tutorial. Jeepers. Im going to have to make do until i get another vehicle, and money. Ah well. Diddnt notice this problem when my countershaft sprocket was worn, now im 18t in front and i guess it was just too much for her.

I have the same issue, but on 1th gear around 4500rpm. Got a bit jumpy the first time it happen.
I never take that gear all the way out, but in second gear...... :good:
It can most certainly happen in first as well. Does make me wonder if it's a sign of abuse, as mine only did it after quite a lot of dragstrip time.
