Less waiving to the camera and more eyes watching the road.... Looks like he landed hard after his full 360 flip.

What a buzz kill....I really hate to see that... I hope that he's ok.

The Dragon requires 100% total concentration, it suffers no fools.
When I rode it, I noticed that it was physically a lot of work on my heavy bike.

Klavdy, Marsh and I went back to the ECR at Tellico to visit and ride with the east coast guys....We had a ball. The best of times.
The bike I want to take to the Dragon would be a 450cc super motard with gum balls... now, that would be a kick...

Even though our trip was years ago, I still dream of the Cherohala Skyway...that's a FJ road for sure... Unbelievable.

+1 on that....

I hope his cammo pants were rated for motorcycles, but the landing impact looks like it would have caused most of his injuries.

Pat,

I had my DRZ 440 SM there this past fall and you are correct ..... its a match made in heaven for the dragon!..... not too shabby on the cherohala either but i had to wind it pretty tight on the straightaways!  :good2:

As for the cruiser rider... that is a perfect example of giving up on making a corner = FAIL!

If I was the Corvette driver, I'd be over there looking for his wallet and insurance card.

That cool cruiser spoked front wheel didn't hold up too well.  Must be a crush-up impact absorption feature.

You are so right.  Look at pic #10, he sure looks like he's going to pull it out, cleanly in fact. Then, in pic #11 he's stood the bike up (presumably because he applied the brakes) and he's going way wide.

Makes me cringe, I had a buddy die this way.

Looks like a Triumph Thunderbird and it had cast alloy wheels.
Doesn't look like he hit the brakes until just 2 frames before hitting the Vette, but by then it was all over.

Damn shame for all persons involved, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised that the biker blames it on the photogs for the distraction instead of his in-ability to control his machine!

it's photo proof that you (and the motorcycle) go where you are looking..... this dude obviously target fixated on the left front corner of the vette instead of looking on thru the corner and pulling his line tighter.... i would much rather prefer a loss of ground clearance low side into the side of a car than to take a giant header straight into it.

Target fixation.   :dash2: I've been there and think it can happen to anyone no matter how long you've been riding.  I see him riding along enjoying a beautiful day on a great road.  Hey look a camera man.  Hi cameraman.  WTF!   :shout:   :shok: That fast.  His life is changed.  Scares the crap outa me.

A while back I was riding in the left lane because of traffic in the right.  A little red car with a girl talking on a cell phone merges in and starts into my lane.  All I could do was stare at her.  I thought to myself, "that bitch dosent see me and is going to hit me!"  I kept on drifting left trying to keep a distance while staring at her till I hit the median.  That was all she wrote down I went.  Thank God it was grass.  All I had to do was accelerate away but I fixated on the car coming at me.  That fast.  Learned a lesson that day a painful expensive lesson.  Hope next time I keep my shit together.  And don't fixate.  The girl never even stopped.  Kept right on going.  I have never reacted that way in a car I don't know what happended that day on my bike.

Hi Mr camera man....you can not do that on that road.....How many curves? In how many miles?

It's one curve after another, after another, after another, after another, after another, after another after another..and like 310 more times...

I am always amazed about the number of threads that are posted for fools that pay more attention to the cameras than to the road. I saw a lot of them  riding in Rolling Thunder this year.  Wonder why the rider didn't do the standard HD panic stop maneuver, lay it down?

Cause tha braking stood it up - betcha!     Then target fixation followed.  :dash1:

:hi: Say 'Hello', wave 'Goodbye' springs to mind...I bet the 'vette guy was really pleased!!! Either way, I do hope the rider wasn't badly hurt.

I was down to Deals Gap (318 curves in 11 miles!!) in May this year. My brother and I were both riding 1982 Yamaha 550 Vision's (XZ550). They were made for The Dragon :good2:
