Was talking with a motorcycle mechanic down here in Panama who told me he had seen a 6 cylinder FJ. There are not many FJs down here. I have been told they exist here but I have not seen any other.
I explained to him that factory FJs only come in 4 cylinders with 1100cc and 1200cc and FJRs with 1300cc.
I am curious to know if Yamaha or others had 6 cylinder engines. A friend owned a Honda CBX a long time ago but had a lot of problems with the carbs. I have heard that BMW has one also.
Does anyone know of any others?
Has anyone ever shoe-horned a 6cyl into an FJ frame? Don´t know why you would want to but hey, I have done a lot of things to my bikes and cars that other people don´t understand either. Just to say it can be done.
Kawasaki had the KZ1300 six cylinder motorcycle. There has been one for sale in the local camera adds for several months now. Asking price is too high IMO. Here is a link for the KZ.

I don't know about anybody stuffing a six cylinder into an FJ but here's a story of some guy who put two KZ1300 engines together to make a V-12! :shok:

I was also thinking of the Kawi, but there is also the flat 6 in the Honda Goldwings.
Entirely different layout though.

Benelli also made a 750 air cooled in line six in the 70's, very similar in appearance to the Honda CBX engine but with 6 tail pipes.
I've ridden a CBX and while it was nice, the mighty FJ would pull the wings off it...
However, at WFO the howl coming from that CBX engine is the most bitchen sound on earth.

Re the 6cyl Kwaka (or 2xKH500) bike....
He could go back to a stock kickstarter if he had a clutch lockout for the front engine. That would allow him to start the rear engine and then let it start the front one, and also let him bring the footpegs forward a fair bit.
I wonder if his neighbors complain about the noise, or thank him for the mosquito fog he lays down.
This could be improved if he got a license so he could travel farther than his block, or if he waited for the engine to warm up and stop smoking so badly.
Not a bad job for a "homebuilt" device. It probably doesn't handle any worse than the original bike either.

Yup. The original didn't handle quite as bad as the reputation, IMO, but then I had been riding an XS750E.
Brakes were a total joke.
Wish I still had mine. I finally sold the engine last summer.
I rode one of those old triples once..... the bike had reportedly killed three people and looked like shit warmed over.... bare foam on the seat pan, no body panels, missing points cover, no front fender, no rear fender and primer black -dented all to hell- gas tank.
The bike was still a rocket and pulled the front end up in the first three gears...........the only advice given to me before riding it was to get ALL my braking done before i even thought about entering a corner :good2:

Last time i seen one of those old zeds as at a local yamaha dealers, about 1985, parked just down from a 1984 fj1100, first one i had seen up close, sat on her at looked back thinking i was the longest bike i had ever seen, mind you i was only 15, thats the day fj love affair started :wacko1:

I owned an H2 and I'd suggest giving the corners a miss altogether. Everything bad said about them is true, but they were rocketships and great fun in a straight line. I put mine under a car at speed, lifted both back wheels of the ground.
