Not sure if this should fall under "What did you do to your FJ today?" but I'll say it is and it's just a bit overdue. When I bought my '92 back in 2005 it had already been modified with the big bore kit and FZR rear end. Of course I couldn't leave well-enough alone and modified/added a few things of my own. Here is the list of modifications in what I believe to be fairly close to the chronological order.
Original Owner
- Wiseco 1314 big-bore kit (done at 30,000 km I was told)
- Aftermarket (larger) oil cooler
- Barnett Clutch
- FZR1000 rear swingarm, wheel and rear shock
- Centre stand removed
- V&H 4-1 exhaust
Second Owner
- Stainless Steel braided front brake lines
- Laminar Lip installed on windscreen
- Engine guards
- Oil temperature gauge
Third Owner (me) – purchased in Aug 2005 with 40,000 km on the odometer. As of Oct 2012 she's at around 98,500 km.
- Corbin Gunfighter & Lady saddle (originally on my '86 FJ and has since been re-covered)
- Luggage: Givi wing-rack with 45L side cases and 46 L top case
- Cramp Buster throttle assist
- Auxiliary lights
- Garmin Zumo 550 GPS
- RPM spin-on oil filter adapter
- Auxiliary fuse panel (for aux lights, GPS and heated vests)
- UNI Dual Pod air filters
- R6 Blue-dot brake calipers, lever and master cylinder
- RPM front-fork valve modification
That's it for now. Not sure what other mods I may do - have considered a fork brace from Randy and maybe the RPM rear shock but I don't think it's compatible with my FZR swingarm and dogbone setup and besides that, the current rear shock is still working pretty well - going to get it serviced this winter (seals, oil, nitrogen recharge...). Also going to remove the engine to get a leaky base gasket dealt with.
