Post by: fj11.5 on October 03, 2012, 09:27:14 PM
ok, short story , , clutch leaking , cleaned slave out, 1500 wet& dry , installed kit in freshly painted slave, still leaked, , so took it apart and fitted kit in the original slave , after a clean, still leaking, , so safe to say I need a new rpm slave, or a better brand kit, , used the same kit in effie , with no problems

Make sure you didn't accidentally reverse the piston seal.  BTDT.      :pardon:

got the better of me, took slave apart again, and followed I think Leon,s advice and polished it inside, dremel, cloth, and brasso , still pitted so may leak again, but for now its fixed :good2:

Indeed, it's not just a matter of replacement. The amount of crud that sits inside the sealing face of the groove came as quite a surprise to me when I did mine.

I'm hearing you buddy , , think this one was original , lots of paint missing from brake fluid leaking / spraying back when moving, crud had built up under the outside seal that much it was lifting it up, won't mention the push rod was surrounded in crap I had to dig out ,, even my Fj wasn't that bad when I bought her, but she did only have 20,000 ks and not 40 like this one
