Today has been interesting! At about 7:30 this morning I killed my nice new Arai helmet by smacking it on the street and stuffing it under a car, with my head inside it! I am beat up a bit, and my YZF has seen better days. Both hands are broken and some road rash, but that will all be fixed. PLEASE use your gear when you ride. My Arai saved my life today.
Ride Well,
Jon
Glad that you are relatively ok. The broken hand thing is going to be a bit of pain tho. Heal fast and get back on the road. Big R
Jon, sorry to hear about the accident, heal quickly bother. Sounds like it could have been much worse...
Eric M
Dang sorry to hear that Jon... I hope you start feeling better soon.
Frank
Jon,
Best wishes for a speedy, and hopefully realtively pain-free recovery. Both hands? Can't even imagine.
GT
Rest and Heal Jon. Thanks for checking in with a important reminder.
I can't imagine you typing, so you must have some fancy ass voice to text software running.
You work with your hands so I hope they heal quickly with full range of motion.
When you get a chance give us the details. Is there anything we can do for you? Pat

To all the stated good wishes.
Let us know all the gory details when you're up for it.
Heal quicklly
Cheers,
Arnie
sorry to hear about the bad day, rest easy and like Pat said if there's anything we can do for you let us know.

You are still here, to tell us the tale. Glad you had the right mind to wear safety gear............Heal Fast!
Glad you had your gear on, heal well and quickly.
Really sorry to read this Jon. Here's to hoping you heal faster than you or the Dr's expect!
Dan
Blimey, thats not good. Hope you feel better soon!
I cant imagine breaking both hands! Not sure what would happen if i had both hands in a cast, well if im honest i know for sure what wouldnt happen!! The rate at which we get through tissue in our house would drop dramatically for a start.
Scratching my arse would no longer be a comforting experience and fishing the tv remote out from between the sofa cushions would become a significant challenge!!
Heres to a speedy recovery! :drinks:
Heal well, Jon!
Jon that sucks but glad you will be OK. Take care and you will be better sooner than you know it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Kurt
Sorry to hear John. I had a near miss with a Tahoe last month up by deals gap. Still not sure how I kept the bike on 2 wheels after having both the front and the back brakes locked up at the same time. They saw me but decided they would pull out in front of me and try to take over the road. My air horn and flashing lights are no match for 4500lbs of steel. Time to mount some guns on the bike. Once your hands heal up we can start talking about fabricating up some mounts. Get well brother.
Sorry to hear this Jon. Take it easy and recover quickly. Glad you were wearing the gear, sounds like it save your ass. I have seen pics of your bike and some of the work that you put into it. Hope its not a total loss.
Derek
Sorry to hear about your accident. A down the street neighbor was killed yesterday morning on his way to work. He was traveling to work down the highway when a car pulled out to cross the highway and hit him. The car then spun into oncoming traffic and was hit by an 18 wheeler killing the driver of the car. Stories like these scare the hell out of me and seriously make me consider if I should even be on a bike. They also scare my wife and kids who then hassle me about riding. I'm glad you were wearing your gear and that it helped to save your life. After such a close call do you think you will ride again? Heal quickly John.

Yeah no doubt. Glad John had a better outcome. Like I said these stories scare the crap out of me.
Dang, Jon. Glad it wasn't worse.
Heal fast and thoroughly.
Heal well Jon. ++1 on wearing you gear!

Sorry to hear the bad news Jon. Glad to hear you were wearing gear and that it made a difference. It's a good reminder of the fact that it's hard to plan on when we'll need it.
Get well soon.
Mark
Jon
Hard lines there Bud hopefully you make a full & quick recovery, glad your gear did its job.
Baldy
Get someone to pat you on the back for being geared up. Did it feel like it was happening in slow motion?
Buddy of mine was the first owner I ever knew of a full face helmet in 1972. Saved his jaw from being part of the pavement and he showed off that helmet for ages afterwards. Cops on the scene were mighty impressed because a big piece of the chin bar was gouged right out during the head first slide.
Man, Jon, both hands broke? That's gonna slow you down some. How the hell did you type on the compuer?
Glad your lid did its job. Heal fast and heal well.

Brings a whole ne meaning to the "Hunt and Peck" method of typing. As in why only real men can drive sport cars. One hand to shift the gears and one hand to wave out the window at all the pretty girls. How does he steer the car you ask? Thats why only real men can drive sport cars....
Glad to hear you made it through, and like everyone else glad you had your gear. Every once and a while I have friends that say just a quick trip skip the brain bucket lets go, it is stories like this that always make you glad you spent the extra few moments to be properly geared. Speedy recovery to your mind and body, the bike can come later if at all possible.

Glad to hear you made it, heal well. Don't piss off the SO, it could get "messy".....
Thanks for all of the get-well wishes! Both hands are almost back to normal size, as is my knee. I just had the surgery to fix the left paw and there was less damage then we thought. I have a brand new Arai and a fresh pair of kevlar armered gloves on my work bench, so I'm set to go!
Ride well everyone, and thanks again.
Jon
Percocet good! Sleep now.
Ins not as uncommon as you think.A friend of mine in Ca broke both wrists when he went down on the boat slip when launching his waverunner.Get well soon :hi:
Jon, this is the first I've heard of this. Take care and heal well my friend!
Great to hear that you are on the mend. Hope you a full and speedy recovery. Keep us posted when you can. Thanks for the update Jon.
Kurt
Today is my first day back at work! Both hands are mending slowly and are very weak. My YZF is on the mend too, I should have it back in rideable condition in about two weeks.
Thanks everyone for the get well wishes!
