These are the updated pictures of my 91 FJ since I bought it.
Some are close-up shots showing a particular area of interest on the bike.
I have started this thread as much for myself, as much as sharing it with you all, in a way of keeping a visual record of what I like to call, "My Ever Changing FJ"!.
Some of my changes have been very noticeable and common within the FJ group, and some are very subtle, and easy to over look.
Thank you for your indulgence!
Leon

Great pictures, love #3 :good2: . What kind mirrors are those? Bike looks great thanks for the post. Several little changes really add up.
Kurt
Reluctantly I must say that you make Pink look really good.... Excellent work and attention to detail. My hat is off to you fellow FJOwner.. :hi:
They are aftermarket copies of some Honda mirrors.

Thanks for the info. I like those much more than the ones I bought. How were they to mount?
Kurt
.
Great Job! :good2: nice and clean
Yes thanks for the link to mirrors just purchased them. Your blue is sure purty. Hope mine looks half as good when I get done
Thanks for posting the pics Leon. This is an inspiration for all of us (especially myself) I think. :good:
Mike
Kurt- The mirrors mounted pretty easy, with only a slight enlargement of one hole each on the mirror mount. They reach around my shoulders nicely for the rear view.
Mike- Inspiration is my goal with this thread. Our very own Pat Conlon was mine.
I know of no better way to convey this other than by pictures.
I have had alot of fun with my FJ and the improvements and changes that I have done truely make it MINE.
I will never say it's done, as I know of alot of mods that are yet to be done.
I suggest you do what you can, when you can with whatever money you can allow yourself to spend on your FJ, and get out there and have fun with it.
Thanks guys,
Leon
very nice work, I have the same mirrors and they work well for me as I am not the smallest fella.
Thank you again Leon for the info. I see new changes every time I look at the pictures, gust keeps getting better!!! :good2:
Kurt
As good as Leon's pictures are, you guys should really see this bike in person. One word: Stunning.
Are not our FJ's one of the most beautiful bikes ever made?
I mean, yea, she's a big girl, but look at those lines!
.....and she sure can Polka your legs off around the dance floor..... :good2:

You inspired me and I just bought the mirrors. I can't see around my shoulders with the ones I bought. They look cool but function is not good
Absolutely gorgeous!
I think the "Dragon" mod is my favorite! :sarcastic:

I knew it. Ha the truth comes out!!! (popcorn) Closer and closer the pink is drawing you in, resistance is futile.

Derek
Which decals are you asking about?
Second and third pics from the bottom. "FJ" and "FJ1200".
Is that an aluminum swingarm? What Bike did that come from?
The "FJ" and "1200" are still the factory installed decals.
The pink stripped decal on the lower fairing was made at a print shop, as the OE decal is no long available.
The "Yamaha" decal on the lower fairing was bought off ebay.
And the "Dragon" decal can only be bought in Deals Gap, rite of passage sort of thing.
The swing arm is off an 89 model.
Kinda hard to polish the stock steel 91 swing arm!
Yes, that's right, I changed the swing arm just so I could polish the damn thing!
I like to call it "OCD"! LOL!
Leon
great job , looks great , :good2:

Is it just me or does Leon's text and background have a shinier look than other member's posts???

Leon (and Pat and others...)
You guys with the stellar clean bikes scare me...LOL
Very nice indeed!
Very nice bike. I see that you have the single muffler and the center stand. Can you tell me where you located the center stand stopper.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you Mark.
No, I have dual mufflers, check the pictures again.
The center stand just rest on the bottom side of the mid pipe.
Seems to work OK without any rattles.
Leon
I have the center stand and single exhaust. Stand will hit chain and bounce around if I didn't do anything to prevent it. I cut some 1/4" rubber sheet to fit into the space between the frame and the stand at the pivot point. Carefully located it, stuck it there with interference fit and some silicone adhesive, and viola... no rattle, no chain rub, no visible modification. Looks like it just works and it does.
Let me know if my description is too cryptic and I'll try again or maybe get a pic (although that might be tough due to location).
Frank
My Kerker system came with a small "L-bracket" that you mount on the left side centerstand pivot bracket...........It keeps the centerstand from moving up too far and contacting anything.
Which Delkevic model is that, Leon?
The 18''?
I looked at the oval "stubby" carbon fiber silencers (they just look mean), but don't fancy loosing the center stand, even though it's easy to put back.

Overall they are 18".
The actual muffler shape is 14".
I really like the sound of them, but I'm tempted to get a pair of their round, stubby mufflers without baffles.
Just to help wake up the neighbors in the morning! LOL!

So i mounted these and they sit at a weird angle - kind of pointing up. I notched the stems at the base, bent them over and i now have mirrors parallel to the horizon with a full field of view. Worked great.
They now look like their stem geometry was designed for the bike.

LMAO
Yours is one of the finest looking FJ's that I have ever seen. I really like the clear front turn signals. I am wondering if the 93 lens would work on the 89/90 fairings?
