Title: Recovered the seat
Post by: aviationfred on August 23, 2012, 08:15:07 AM
The seat had been modified and recovered by a previous owner and looked like @*%###. I recovered it and it looks 100% better.

The before......

Thank you, but I can not take credit for the cover itself. I purchased it on EBay UK and the seller is in Poland. They only ship to the EU. Luckily I have some contacts and was able to have it shipped to Finland and hand carried to the States.

I did remove the extra passenger seat foam and installed the cover myself with a staple gun.

Maybe you did not make the cover but you did a nice job of putting it on.  :good:

Thank you Kurt. I really do like how it came out. After a few rides of 130, and 250 miles, it is sadly still a stock seat and way to soft. I have found a used Corbin Gunfighter and Lady. It should be delivered tomorrow. I will have to make a few 100+ mile rides before I decide what I want to do with the stock recovered seat. It may be up for sale in a month or so.

I had a Gunfighter on the Interceptor 500 and a Gunfighter and Lady on the Interceptor 1000. Both had the pebbled/houndstooth vinyl type seat area. The seat I have on it's way is smooth leather seat area.

Mine has the houndstooth also, let us know how you like the smooth seat. My seat will need to be recovered before too long.

Kurt, Here is a photo for both of my Interceptors with Corbin seats. The KZ700 is a friends.

Cool, Fred bikes look good. How dose your FJ compare to the interceptor1000?

Actually I had the FJ1100 before I got the Interceptor 1000. The Honda overall felt taller. It handled differently. The FJ has a nice transition roll from upright to full lean. The Honda was a bit more twitchy. You had to be carefull and more precise with your lean angle. It had a tendency to FALL into a lean.
