Has anyone installed the RPM rear tail light with signals? Did you remove your factory turn signals? If anyone has done so could you please post up pics. I want to order the tail light remove my turn signals and trip up my rear fender but would like to see if anyone else has done so and see how it looks. Thanks.
Here in California the CHP will site any bike with turn signals that are less than (I think) 9 inches apart. Many do it anyway and just deal with the $ 25 fixit fee, but it also gives the LEOs a reason to pull you over and check other things like pipes, reflectors, and other "hassled by the man" type things. Check your local regs for turn signals on bikes. This is a mod I want to do just to get more light to the rear and a second set of indicators in case one goes out. The others that did this mod love it. Use the search function.
i wanted the tinted rpm tail light but , scored an xjr led one , twin round , made it fit :good2: , as for indicators, fitted the smallest set i dare  right next to the tail light

awesome light, but i love the slip on pipes
Although I really liked the integrated turn signal, LED tail light, I never cared for the way it fit, nor the shape of the lens, so I broke it all apart and put the electronics inside a stock tail light housing that has had the raised letters sanded off and completely polished.
It now has a more stock appearance, but with the lack of the turn signal stalks.

Leon that is great. I'm going to have to do that with mine. Same here. The light works great. Plenty bright. But the lens isn't what I want either. And I have 2 stock ones laying around.
Thanks I would never have thought of that
Pat I saw you post before and that is what gave me the idea. I love what you've done and that is exactly the look I'm going for. I agree that the light and fender spoil the lines of the bike. I think I will follow your example and modify a stock lens.

ok pics in mod gallery, still need to mould it in
Every time I think I know how I want to do it I change my mind! I like Leon's too. :wacko2: :dash2: I think I will order the light from RPM and see how I like it on the bike then go from there.
I would of got an rpm one myself, still might one day, but fork valves next instead
:good:

Absolutely love what you have done there any chance of a description of how you made it work? Or is more a case of you will know what to do when you see it? You mentioned polishing the lense, was this in a 'to make clean' type of way or something more technical?
Good job though, like the ethos or modding whilst making it look OEM.

Thanks,
The back housing on the LED lamp is the exact shape as the FJ lamp.
The difference is that he FJ lamp has a tab mounted on the top edge to keep the lamp firmly mounted within the FJ tail piece. The LED lamp lacks this critical piece.
This is why I tranplanted the circuit board into the FJ lamp.
The LED circuit board needs to be glued into the FJ housing, as it doesn't have the mounting tabs the same as the LED lamp comes with. Easily done though.
I sanded the raised lettering off the outside of the FJ lens to give it a cleaner look while at the same time making it easier to keep clean...ever notice how those small raised letter can collect dirt or wax, or whatever?? I do, and by making the lens smooth, it's just a little easier to keep clean.
This form a customizing is something I have done for years on my cars.
People will look at them and take them for stock at first, but keep looking at them because there is just something different about them that they just can't put their finger on.
