Hi, sorry I placed this in the wrong section earlier :/
here goes again;
Hi Folks, YamahaFJ1200 3xw, and I am is Edinburgh, Scotland.
I have recently noticed a weep of oil from the oil level sight glass, hope to change it before it "pops" and I end up in a world of pain.
I ordered a new seal from "Yambits" here in the UK.
Now I ambled out to look at the offending part a few minutes ago, and the window isn't "round", so I am guessing that the seal has be fitted into the "inside" of the case, am I correct ?
Any advice, experience gratefully received.

Yes, it presses in from the back side of the clutch cover.

Ah excellent, thanks for that swift reply :) MMMhh now I am wondering if I can "seal" the clutch cover back up ? or will I need a gasket Don't want to buy a complete gasket set, I'm not tight with money, just "careful". :).

You will need a clutch gasket as it will probably tear.
You do not need to buy a complete gasket set, you can find it here; Clutch Cover Gasket (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Engine%3ACOMEC018020)
You can lean the bike over on the side stand and you will not lose much oil if any as well.

Cheers :)
mmmhh I'm in Scotland though, it's a long way Randy :)

you could buy the gasket cheaper and have it sooner from randy and still be cheaper than your local stealership :good2:, , be warned rpm is addictive only cure is rpm :dash1: :wacko3:
Indeed, huge respect for RPM, I have bought from them in the past, and they were well priced and swiftly delivered :) However, as I have the sight glass in my sweaty wee hand, I have opted for a local source of gasket, purely so I can get the job done on my next days off. :)
cant argue with that mate, a man needs his bike :good2:
