Looks like a totally new fall location will need to be our new home from here on out.
Too bad!
I got this off of the KOAs Facebook page...
QuoteKOA Tellico Plains
Tellico Plains, TN July 30, 2012 - The owner of KOA Tellico Plains has decided to not rebuild after the March 2, 2012 tornado which hit the Tellico Plains area destroyed the campground. The campground was closed for the season when the tornado hit and was unable to open during the 2012 season.
A statement from the owner: After much thought, analysis, discussion, and yes prayer, the decision has been made to not rebuild the KOA. In the final analysis we looked at our 11 years in operations, receiving numerous awards, having an excellent staff, great campers, and a beautiful setting, however, with all these working in our favor, the business was not as successful financially as it needed to be. After the tornado hit on March 2nd and destroyed our beautiful KOA, we considered many options. With the down economy over the last few years and its impact on our industry, we do not see the business turning around in the short term. Therefore, it does not make good business sense to rebuild, now.
We still believe in the Tellico Plains area and its future opportunities, but must deal with the hand we have been dealt for now with respect to the KOA campground.
well that sucks balls.
Remember Vanessa the Undresser?
There were cabins behind her bar, weren't there?
Or were they, like, rent by the hour type deals?

That would work. (Bonus!!)
After-ride massage, drinks, relaxation. Cheap, since you're not paying for the time you aren't there!
Buy the property Dean! Go into another line of business. :good2:

I think if the site was setup more for bike riders it would be a good idea. But I imagine with the ecomomy in bad shape it wouldnt be a big money maker.

I stopped by 2 weeks ago to check it out. Not a damn thing left other than some trees. Looks so strange. At least all the roads still kick ass. :drinks:

that would be weird. our home away from home. gone. nada. nothing. save those photos of the the our bikes at the koa...
I took an afternoon ride yesterday (first one of those in 2 years) and went up GA-60 to where T.W.O. used to be. The place was desolate, there wasn't a bike around or even any indication that this place used to be a motorcycle destination. It was too depressing to even stop and take a picture.
