Title: 90 fj
Post by: bailz on June 28, 2012, 12:59:23 PM
Just picked up 1990 FJ yesterday, 1000 bucks, 13000 miles on it.  was dropped in parking lot by timid rider at app. 15mph, bummer but runs strong.  It has been stored app. 3 years after drop and has small issues.  New battery seems to be losing charge while riding and I have noticed similar posting on this problem, I have it on my charger as we speak.  Feed back desired: what causes this and what is best fix??  Does this beast have alternator/generator, external regulator??

Love this bike and I want to dial it in, also looking for upper fairing/cowling due to slight damage from drop.

What tells you you are losing charge while you are riding?

A few voltage readings with a $3 DVM from Harbor Freight would do wonders for diagnosing the battery and charging condition.
