Title: Unusual '92 fairing.
Post by: Pat Conlon on June 21, 2012, 04:06:11 PM
Currently there is a 1992 FJ for sale on eBay:

What caught my eye was the weird fairing...

It must have been the body shop repair mentioned in the ad. Too bad they did not continue the paint, it looks like a goatee.

I am looking at that bike.  It seems like i good deal but there was just something about it that did not apeal to me.  The fairing looks taller or something?  I guess it is the paint on the nose you pointed out?  I usually prefer the Red bikes but this one is lower milage and a good price.  Any thoughts on the bike?

Yeah I see that and if you look at the side view you can see it is just grafted.  I don't like that but it's easy enough to change.  For the  price though.....  Seems like a good deal on a low mileage FJ.  I'm very very tempted.  I want to call the seller today and talk to him before I make a move.

The two air vents in the side panels above the "1200" have been altered into one vent.

Stock vents on dash, either side of the tank have been altered, too.

Smaller rear turn signals.

If it runs good, these things are just cosmetic.

Remember, it *could* be coated with rattle can flat black!

GRRRRRR someone bid and took away the buy it now.  There is another bike a Red one that I really like but the guy selling has a $3000 reserve.  I've offered him $2300 but is seems pretty solid at his price and does not seem to have any flex at all.

I don't know why but I like this one much more than the other one.  I think I will just keep on looking.  I want to be happy when I make the purchase.  Maybe the owner of the Red one will relist with a lower reserve.  This is his second time listing it.

I've gone up to $2500 but no one else is bidding.  Maybe he will take a hint and lower his price.   :dash2:

relax and take a deep breath.... you were right the first time... relax and let "your" FJ come to you.

You really should be looking for a later model.... they are easier to modify and the rubber mounted engine really ia nice.

if its all about beauty then obviously the earlier models are the way to go   :good2:

did that make it all just a bit easier????

KOokaloo!

Someone started bidding on the Red bike and ran it up.  :cray:  Now I'm bidding on the 92.  Sad thing is the buy it now is where my bid is.  This is really the better bike I know but I sure did like the red one.  If I win it the funky fairing will be changed.

Racerman the bike in your avatar is PURDY!   :good2:  What year is it?

My FJ started life as an 86

i still have all the red and white stock bodywork in pristine condition but i built a hotrod 1349cc engine for it so i purchased a full set of used bodywork and put a hotrod paint job on.
