Getting the exhaust system on FJ2 a ceramic coating. (inside and out). The choice of colours is vast. (The factory owner wasn`t surprised to learn pink was becoming tha rage in U.S.A.), but I did get to see quite a few car exhaust manifolds that came out of the oven as shiny as Chrome. I was very impressed but have since talked to a hotrod mate that says to be careful as (though rare) some have been known to turn gray when temps get a bit high during extended use. (do they need polishing as often as a mate of mine`s head?- got an idea it goes gray for the same reason.) Anyone here got experience with the product on our mighty FJ`s? (long term or short term)
i dont not have chrome headers but i have seen them on lots of bikes and cars they turn a blueish color witch i think does not look bad

Is it your mate's head that needs to be polished frequently or his knob? :-)

Hey Dougie have a look @ Brett's FJ as he has had his ceramic coated, in fact when I get back on Thursday and pick the FJR up I'll look @ the bike.

Thank`s mate. Dena reckons it`s a sign of age when I`m the only one that gets my own jokes - between you and me I guess she`s right!
But yeah, who would want for more performance from a stock Fj - it`s strictly for looks and preservation. The existing mufflers are polished stainless and they said they would do them for only an extra $60 - but I`m a bit wary of their inclusion just for the sake of colour matching. The process includes the finned retainer manifold clamps and even the head studs if i wanted to.(studs declined due to my concern of thread oxidisation growth long term). I think the mufflers might be Motads and i just love their note - especially when ya give them somethin to sing about. They were/are on the bike you rode at the Rally. (Fixed the rattles and saving for CBR mirrors). I`m still torn between heart strings and purse strings about having to sell her soon. (Harvy was recently playin in my shed and reckons I should keep it.)
Picked up what used to be a filthy exhaust system with rusty looking distribution box and tainted chrome mufflers from the ceramic company today. Unbeleivably shiny & sparkling (incl the finned header retaining clamps). I`ll need my sunglasses on when i take a pic for ya`s. The company owner tells me it won`t ever change it`s look unless I turbo the beast. (ie temps get up above 700 deg.) Nice to know it`s on the inside as well as out. - interesting experiment -problem is the motor now looks like shit and I don`t want to pull it out just for looks. :dash1:
My Kerker system is ceramic coated..........I've had it on there for about 3 years, and hasn't changed color at all.........it does have some burned-on road grime bits on the downpipes that come off the front tire.......I could probably rub them off if I give it enough elbow grease.........other than that, it looks like it did when I put it on.
I think you'll be plenty happy with the ceramic coating.
