Title: Clutch
Post by: Sabre093 on June 17, 2012, 06:53:44 PM
I've been doing some reading on clutch problems, and mine are i get engagement when lever is almost fully out...and i get drifting tach in 4th and 5th around 7000 rpm.
My bike pulls like a mother and back breaks loose and i don't hear it slip, but tach makes it look like it does.
Now i don't know when or if it has been changed,I've had bike for only 3 weeks..so i ask this while it's open do i replace it all and start fresh with a replacement kit and have all new fluids put in and then i know it's done.I don't have the skills to do this myself, many here do,that's why i'm asking for advice on what to tell mechanic so i don't get hosed.

Sounds like it's slipping.  It'll still pull reasonably hard, but it's going to be most noticable in the longer gears.

Start with either a second diaphram spring, or a new single one.  If that doesn't fix it, then yes, time for a new set of fibers and a cleaning/checking of the oil pickup, as well as a new oil pan gasket and a clutch cover gasket.

Read this (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=1808.0) yet?  Ain't much that can't be answered by the info there.
