Title: Yamaha FJ model
Post by: Tapartacus on June 04, 2012, 12:44:05 AM
How can I tell what letter model my fj is? Is it posted on the frame somewhere ex: "FJ1200D". What does the D stand for. I'm pretty sure mine came from California. It has emission control items on it.
Thanks
Andrew

I'm guessing "D" means 1993....... my '91 is "B"

But the VIN will give you the year of manufacture:

That being said, while mine is a '91 model by paint scheme, it was manufactured in '90.

The Clymer manual has the following for US models

FJ1200S         1986
FJ1200T         1987
FJ1200W        1989
FJ1200A         1990
FJ1200B         1991
FJ1200D         1992
FJ1200E         1993

California models have a C at the end of the model (FJ1200SC, FJ1200TC, etc)

I think the model is listed on the sticker under the seat with the emissions information

Andrew yes the D tells the model year. If your model is a FJ1200DC then it is California model. Hope this helps?
