Title: 87 fzr 1000 forks
Post by: fj11.5 on June 02, 2012, 06:57:05 PM
hi all, are there any advantages 87 fzr forks over 89 Fj ones, or silly question, just fit rpm fork valves

I do not know about forks from various years, but I have a 1992 FJ and I installed the fork valves from RPM with very good (& unexpected!) results.
Later, I installed the fork brace with noticeable improvements as well. From my experience, I would install both items as a unit. Depending on how many miles you have on your motorcycle, you may consider new bushings as well
Good luck,
Mike Ramos.

hi mike, thanks mate , I've been wanting both of those items for the same. reasons you said , I can get a set of the fzr,s cheaply , just thought if  they were equal to the Fj forks with randy,s valves would be worth fitting them

The major differance is you run the 320MM brake rotors, You can never have to much brake. :good:

Hello, guys
Do the FZR 1000 87 forks fit straight on?. I think yes

I am thinking about to fit FZR 1000 fork vases with all the rest from the 1200 (bars, springs...) so I could keep the hidraulic knob from the 1200 and have the 320 rotors fitted from the FZR 1000
Anybody have done this mod?
Regards
Alf

larger rotors could be great , but don't know if they could be much better than the blue spots , ss lines and 14mm master cyl , more brakes than bike  :good2: as it is.  guessing the fzr forks are not much of an upgrade then, oh. well ill keep saving for randy,s fork valves

There would be an inprovement, the blue spots are a bolt on to the FZR legs.
