Title: 1999 fazer master cylinder
Post by: nurse on May 26, 2012, 11:49:05 AM
Afternoon all. Just a quick question. Bike is in the shop having gsxr wheel mod done and blue dots put on the front. Aesthetically I didn't want to go with the 'pee pot' reservoir (personal choice given my day job!) and have come by a very good condition Front M/C from a 99 fazer.  Is this one of the 14mm varieities? Have googled around a bit but can't find a straight forward answer!

Also any pointers for a replacement left mirror mine had unfortunate coming together with garage wall whilst bing moved about. It is an original Yamaha one but it is longer than the standard variety that also came with the bike when I got it.

Cheers folks!

In the shop for a GSXR wheel changeover?  Why? That's the easiest mod possible.  Absolutly no machining required and only fabrication is the anchor for the brake stay.
Are you rich, lazy, or just timid?

Most m/c's have the bore size cast into the body.  Take a look, you'll find it.

Depending on what year your FJ is, the CBR (or copy) mirrors are popular.  I'm currently using GSXR mirrors with turn signals in them, but did have to make some mount brackets to get them angled correctly.  Lots of mirror options on Ebay

Check these out:  long number is ebay item No.
Ebay Item #s  M/C mirrors
150676325624  PAIR  LED mirrors 300mm OA length   UK 50   XF
190591573961  PAIR  Oval mirrors 295mm OA length  UK 33
190585872848  PAIR  LED stem mirrors  300mm OA length  UK 32

Might not work if you need fairing mount mirrors.

Cheers Arnie. Well I'm certainly not rich! Maybe a little timid! But mostly I'm Extremely time poor, 3 kids, wife & as both of us work full time I have virtually no free time. Lame excuse I know but sometimes u need to know when to cut your losses and 'sub-contract' besides the bikes in for some other work, so two birds, one stone and all that.

Will pop down the garage and look for info on the body of the m/c.  As for the mirrors thanks for the pointer, I will head to eBay and have a butchers!  (sorry butchers hook- look, British slang)

Cheers Arnie :good2:

Arnie (or anyone else that knows) looking at the mirror issue, i like the look of the CBR mod, my year is a 92 CVW, does this mod work with the 'foot mount'  from this year, most of the mods i have seen done have been on the earlier model year?  these seem to have a different mount with a 'boot' but not sure if the actual bracket measurments are the same.

Cutting and painting I can do! Welding not so much :negative:

What was needed exactly to make the mod work?

all I used was some mild steel plate , about 2 or 3 mm thick, drilled the holes to match. the mirror mounts , welded a nut on each hole, , cut off the old mounts behind the fairing , welded the ones on I made , bolted up the cbr mirrors
