Around here even a good quality car oil is 4 - 5.50 a quart so going to a motorcycle oil is not that much of a leap.  I would say if you change it more often and you do run the bags off on your motorcycle you could but probably would opt to getting a motorcycle oil.

Specific m-oil have a few more additive for the higher revs -- for the clutch stuff too.  Cycle gear has stuff.. semi-synthetic for around 5.99 a quart on sale --

When it comes to engine oil think of the old Fram commercial --- you can pay my now or pay me later.

Motorcycle oil is different from automobile oil. In a motorcycle the oil lubricating engine, transmission and clutch, witch requires different polymers, additives and more of them. I worked in motorcycle shops parts departments for over ten years and the spent a lot of time training us on the differences in these products. If you only use this 800-1000 miles a year and change it anally then maybe automotive oil would be ok but not the best. I hope this helps.
