Some thingy drove into the back of me & my BMW 1150GS at about 30mph on a roundabout this morning.
Ambulance, police, hospital.
Muscle damage to right shoulder and left lower back.
My pride and joy looks sick. crash bars, rockerbox cover, indicator, spotlight. crashbars have hit the petrol tank.
More concerned the front and back mudguards now look off set. Got it in my head that something is twisted. Had another look, bike won't start! :'(
Carole Nash and their legal service already on the case.
My mobility is compromised, back is agony after sitting a while and trying to move.
Damn the bad luck.
Take care!
Leon
Crap! Glad you're around to tell the tale!
Sounds like everything can be repaired - rider and bike both (probably quicker and easier to fix the bike!).
No start issue - do those BMWs have a tip over switch? Could be stuck after the spill.
Good luck and speedy recovery
Sorry to read this. Hope you get better quickly.
Arnie
ah crap. Get well soon.

Someone who had moved the bike, had turned the kill switch off. But, when trying to start it sounds awful. :(
Ouch, that doesn't sound like fun. Sorry to hear, rest & recover soon.
That sucks, hope you're feeling better soon.
Dan
Sorry to hear the news mate get well soon and good luck with the bike, were you insured?
That really sucks
Having your pride & joy ruined is bad enough but it can be fixed/replaced.Having a stuffed back is worse :ireful:. I hope you make a full recovery and Carole Nash take em to the cleaners!
Cheers :drinks:

Man, I sure hope you get better quick - what with summer coming on there in the UK - its riding time not R & R time.
Ditto for the bike..... hope the frames not too badly bent.
Harvy
make a quick recovery mate, then hunt down the f+*k wit that did it ad install the trashed beemer parts up they,re left nostril :good2:
That really sucks. I know it's hard not to worry about the bike, but concentrate on yourself first.
FJ11.5, I like the way you think!

Wow! Heal fast and properly so you can ride again...
Sorry to hear the news..... I am always paranoid about the idiots we have the share the road with for this exact reason. I swear i look behind me more than i do in front of me whenever i'm riding in town.
Bikes can be repaired/replaced...not so easy with a friend..... take care and heal well mate :good2:
Kookaloo!
Frank
sorry to hear about that! Take care of your self first!
Hope your back up on two wheels quickly....
Minding your own buisness and you get blindsided. That sucks. Speedy recovery to you. Give your body time to heal.
Get well soon eliminator. I know a bit about lower back pain. Minimum 3 weeks for muscle damage to settle usually. (surrounding muscles will tighten up to compensate, then they become part of tha problem) - could be a subjective 6 weeks. Get plenty of regular fish oil inta ya (not tha capsul type) before you take on any physio - just when ya think it`s never going away, it comes so good it`s sorta pleasurable - that`s when ya end up overdoing it. - make sure ya give us regular progress reports.
Coulda been much worse - It could of been an FJ! (BMW are just callateral damage and eventually end up in bits anyway.)

charged the battery, bike started, initially a bit smokey. Engine sounds OK. :good2:

Wow! Its not like they could not see you, Fluro-Yellow/Reflective jacket and lights blazing. You are brighter than my red Power Ranger suit and still get hit. We really are invisible.... Looks like it is all fixable.
Ouch!!!! Sorry about your nice Beemer. Get better yourself too.
CraigO
think ill stick with wearing all black, I'm guessing you blinded them more than they were
so sorry to hear this
gentle exercise for the muscle injuries to keep them from siezing, but if it hurts a lot then your probably pushing it too hard
as for the bike, if it was on its side with a fuel pump running one of the cylinders could have been flooded or if the rocker cover is completely stoved in it could be fouling a valve
Personally I would just let the insurance sort it all out.... although they seem to write a lot of easily repairable vehicled off for what seems minor damage
Hope you recover quickly
Yosemite
These are the worst post to see but the game we play has these risk. Glad it was not more serious and wish you a speedy recovery!
Mike
Take it easy for a while and let things heal. I'm glad to see you in all your gear! I had a crazy driver hit me from behind back in 1987 and it took 2 years to be back at 100%. It's not fun, but it sure beats the alternative.
Insurance company paid out more than I thought they would for the bike. I bought it back. I fretted about buying it back at the time, as I thought the engine may have been damaged, but it wasn't :good2:
I am OK now, got paid for personal injury and for loss of earnings, and damage to my bike kit.
Still not quite got over having anyone tailgating me though.
Good to hear that you were compensated to your satisfaction, really rare these days. I know it does not make it all better but I am sure it helps. Thanks for the update.
