JUST WONDERING IF THE NEW CLUTCH DISCS NEED TO SOAKED IN OIL OR LUBED AT ALL BEFORE NEWLY INSTALLED???
ALSO THOUGHT MINE HAD 2 DISCS IN THE BASKET BEFORE THE WIRE RETAINER WAS INSTALLED BUT ALL ILLUSTRATIONS APPEAR TO ONLY HAVE ONE PLATE BEFORE THE WIRE GOES ON........THANKS FOR ANY CLARIFICATION. :wacko3:

I aways soak new clutch disks in oil over night before installing. Not sure where I read this, are there instructions with the new disks? I also rough up (a little, not much) the steel plates with a scotch brite pad. No answer for the disk/wire placement for you though. And an unrelated note, I would recommend turning off your CAPS LOCK, it gives the impression that you are yelling.
Yup, soak the new fibers in clean oil before installing. At least an hour or so, usually overnight. If nothing else, get them soaking and spend some time cleaning the work area, that usually takes me at least all day :)
Toss the wire retainer out, no worries on how many are before or after it then.
if your going to remove that wire and install the extra plates, carefull of the sharp edges in the clutch basket, my oil could e dna tested after i did the clutch mod :rofl2:
1 narrow plate to replace with wide plate at inside, the most inside clutch plate if my memory serves me. Also on my 84 1100 there are 2 metal pieces to remove up against the very back. Must be some kind of spacers or something. Yep soak plates or at least coat liberally with oil before install.
