I think Randy knows better than to offer a shock with no height/length adjustment. Right Randy?

Pat....do you know if Penske offers a remote preload adjuster for those shocks? That is a nice feature.
Yes, it will be a coil over with the adjusting nut roller bearing kit (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3ACoilOverBrgKit) supplied with every unit. At this point there is no thoughts or plans for the remove reservoir, so you will not have to find a home to mount that or modify parts to use the shock. Heck, I even have a plan to include a new RPM shock sock with every shock as well.
I am working in the target area in regard to cost, but at this point that is still an unknown. The issue that I have when making item specific parts, exclusively to the FJ, it cannot be used on any other bikes. The other shocks are a universal shock that fits many different applications and is then "adjusted & set" for the FJ.
My rear shock, just like the RPM fork valves (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M/C:RPMForkValve) are FJ specific and will be valved specifically for the FJ; not a universal shock that fits multiple applications and then set-up for the FJ.
That specificity does lower the products unit use and does raise the price. Just like the RPM fork valves are slightly higher than the universal fork valves that fit a multitude of bikes, the rear shock might fall into the same category.
But, I do understand that the price needs to be similar and not be so high that the better option is to buy another shock, that is why I am working with the manufacture regarding the target cost. Also, keep in mind that shock listed on the link is the "basic" shock and when you click on the link you will see the price increase for the "options". The third option would be the shock the RPM rear shock is designed to replace, not the basic model.
My shock does not need options, it will be FJ specific and will be the best product on the market for your FJ. I will have one option, to bring you the best possible product at the best price I can deliver it to you.
I take that back, you will have a option for rear spring rates based on rider weight, but they are included with the shock.
You will be happy; that is the only way for me to operate my business.

No, on all the Penske shocks the spring preload is done via threaded collar on the shock body.

Ive been waiting for about a month now for my shock from Traxxion (spelling?). Tempting to see if I can cancel. They said they were having trouble getting stuff from Penski.

I just want to speak up and say that the addition of a Penske shock was probably the single most trans-formative change I made to the FJ. If there is a distributor local to you that you have a good relationship with then by all means go to them and find out what kind of pricing is available to you. But, if you are just going for it "cold" as I did, you may want to go directly to the source as Penske in MD was more than happy to sell me a shock at a great price. I bought a three way adjustable "8987" unit and was able to swap springs back and forth with Penske until I had the right one..... My total for the shock was about $1350 which is pretty well in line with the pricing you see from retailers...

PS: Take Pat's/Randy's advice and buy the Torrington Bearing for your shock right out of the gate so that adjusting the preload is easy peasy...
Axiom-r, I'm curious, which spring did you end up with? I've got the 1200lb. It's ideal for riding two up. Not 100% sure it's perfect for single rider. I'd like to be able to adjust the rebound damping independent to the compression damping but cannot as I have the basic sport model. Over all, I'm very happy with it, but again, I'd like the to have the rebound adjustment. Maybe I just need to try more sag/clicker combinations.
That's the beauty of Penske sport shocks, by adding a hose and a remote reservoir, you can make it a 2 way or 3 way shock.
