I'm breaking the golden rule of not working on the bike a week before a big trip. I am fitting unipods and new jets that arrived today, amongst other jobs, and the new pilot jets are 42.5's, same as currently fitted but the new ones have holes in the body of the jet. The ones currently fitted don't.
Can anyone shed any light on the effect of fitting one or the other?
Leaving 6am Thursday on trip with no opportunity to change anything for next 3000 km's.
Don't want to get it wrong.
Thanks
Noel

Hey Noel, are you heading up our way??? ie QLD :drinks: Doug
Don't do it! You never want to poke Murphy in the eye, don't start before a 1,800 mile trip.
I've used both type of pilot jets w/o any difference. Do you have oil for the Unipods? and be sure to oil the breather filter too. You do have the breather filter, right? Again, I would say Don't do it!

A guy named O'Toole said that Murphy was an optimist. He probably tried working on his bike before a trip...

good one!
Noel,
The new style jets with the holes in the side do not affect the jet size. They allow a place for debris to go instead of just plugging the jet. They also help when it is time to clean them.
Make sure you tighten inventorying and you will be fine.
