I´ve just bought a shift kit from Randy (excellent delivery as always, thanks Randy!) and tomorrow I will install it with my mate Mingo help (an 86 FJ owner)
I had a Factory shift kit fitted in my FJ 1100. It was a stronger spring only. Even the gear engage was more positive, the gear selector was extremely stiff.
When I opened the kit envelope I was surprised that it is the same Factory kit, only this time it contains a shift lever with a bearing. Randy has told me that it makes the gear-change extremely precise and it is not stiff any more. A quick visit to my friend Mamel, an excellent motorcycle mechanic, confirmed me that this piece of kit could service as promised
So tomorrow I will fit it. The Factory sheet says 2 hours. MMMMMM, very optimistic, I think. :negative: You have to dismount completely the clutch basket (you need a special tool for this, that I bought a lot of years ago to install the shift kit in my FJ 1100) and the gear-change. 4 hours is more realistic, I think
To be useful I will take photos, I will comment here the result too and I will make a complete report in my web, and I will leave feedback on Randy web

Hi, boys!
Later than expected, I´ve fitted the shift kit. You need the shift shaft oil ring too, (Randy has told me that he is going to include in the kit) and it is recommended to buy a couple of Yamaha OE cheap parts too, so I have not installed until to have the complete puzzle in my hands
You have the PNs of the parts needed in my web and a complete review (engine section at the menu), but writing a fast resume, for "spirit" riding I think that it is worth the cost & effort

UPDATE: I´ve just to come to my annual trip to mainland Spain. Near 10.000 kms in 4 weeks riding with my friend and FJ owner too JC in mainland Spain, France and Portugal always on B and C roads
And the shift kit spring has bed-in and it is not hard anymore. Even it feel soft than in my Honda. IT IS FANTASTIC!. And back to back with another FJ you feel the difference: more positive engagement, less lever travel, less noise.
RECOMMENDED!

Fitting the kit is a little tricky
I´m in process of ordering a couple of things from Randy. Say me if you need anything and we could save in delivery cost (even Randy send it very economic)
