Title: How to seal the fork seals
Post by: FJTillDeath on April 03, 2012, 01:38:26 AM
Did a forum search and came up with 3 offtopic results

Randy is sold out currently of the seal mate on his site. A member suggested in another thread I could use a really thin feeler guage to do the trick. Any other options/ homemade things that will do the trick?

I cant really make out what the seal mate is other than a rounded piece of plastic metal?

I've seen the seal mate on eBay, guessing it slots between the fork and the seal with a thin ARM that cleans the gunk away that's causing the leak ,the large part would be the handle,

I had a leaky fork seal last spring at Boone.  Carey suspected there was some debris causing the leak, and fashioned the same sort of thing from some plastic packaging out of the trash.  Apparently he was right, that seal is still holding fine.

The packaging was one of those clamshell type things commonly used nowadays, molded plastic sheet, typically heat sealed and a bear to get opened.

I made a couple out of one of those, just had to do a little scissor work... Hell of a lot cheaper than buying something.
