Here she is, (see my gallery, haven't figured out how to put the pics in the body of the post yet).
I got her last June as a bag of crap that had sat in a garage for at least 10 years.
Some of the mods and upgrades include,
-complete carb rebuild,
-Uni foam filters, engine breather, choke cable,
-new battery, heavy duty wiring harness/ relay for headlights, horn, coils and Powerlet,
-DDM HID headlight, Transpo voltage regulator, Stebil Nautilus horn,
- new clutch pak & spring, new slave cylinder,
-new FZ1brake M/C, SS braided lines for brake and clutch,
-new EZ 530/110 chain and sprockets,
-used Corbin seat, Rentec engine bars, new wheel bearings/seals front and back,
- 1992 front shocks, 17" wheel, brake discs and rotors,
-new Avon Azaro front, Avon Ultra Storm rear tires,
-new BMW K75 foot pegs,
-new frame and body paint (NOT the colour I wanted but ran out of time so chose the closest thing from the automotive paint chart)
Most of this was purchased from Randy RPM and definitely all problems were solved by this forum.
Just need RPM's fork valves and rear shock to really ice the cake.

And a set of blue spot calipers and a 14mm brake master cylinder. Are you missing the right side cover?

As we have said before....Any buffoon with a credit card can walk in and buy a new bike, but to take an old classic and restore and enhance her, is what we are all about. I have great admiration for you guys who have resurrected old unused/unloved FJ's.
Let us know how she runs.
As suggested, some springs/fork valves/blue spots and perhaps a RPM back shock, will the the frosting on the cake, but that's in the future. If you need a right side cover, let us know. With the effort you have shown us, you will move to the front of the line.
For now, ride her, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Once I get Randy's new rear shock that will be solved.
I had read a few times on this forum that the standard 4 pot calipers from 88 up were just as good as the 4 pot blue dots so I never pursued it. Can one 4 pot caliper be better than another?
Also, on my list I forgot to mention Randy's new oil cooler was also added.

Oh hell yes.
The blue spot mono block calipers are better than the oem 2 piece design, much better. You already have the 14mm m/c and braided lines and '89+ fork lowers so you are all ready for the mod. It will be plug and play. (and bleed)

i second the Hell yes... I am not one to mess with factory stuff --- I like original but I was very much pleased with the blue dot upgrade to my 90. If the work wasn't so much more for the 86 I would do make it happen for it as well but I would need new forks ..wheel and need to change rear wheel to match etc etc..
but you already have the 89 front end ....real simple upgrade.
I've an '86 with the 16 wheels and wanted to upgrade the callipers

The monobloc calipers are forged as one piece, hence the term. This means they are much stiffer, so they flex less before they start to pinch the rotor. The result is, it is much easier to modulate the braking (better 'feel" to the lever). The blue/gold/silver insert is the hole made when they drill the piston bores.
Overall power is probably about the same, but the monoblocs just work better, and they're probably cheaper to produce, because it takes fewer steps... The master cylinder makes a bit of difference, too.
What a lovely job absolutely perfect except you do need the blue spots you will not believe the difference have done this conversion to quite a few FJ's here for mates :good2:

I don't know much about Fox shocks or if they are rebuild-able.
I know that they are popular on mountain bikes and dirt/motorcross bikes but little else.

FJDave1200, the chin fairing or belly pan is stock, came with the bike.
DadsFJ, the Fox shock seems to work just fine but I have nothing to compare it to. I took it apart and cleaned everything then re installed with fresh 5w oil and 300lbs of nitrogen. The only problem is the reservior, it's about six inches long and prevents me from mounting the side body piece. There is a company in California
that rebuilds them, Lindemann Engineering, they seem to be about the only ones, although when I had it apart all the rubber seemed good to me and it works now.
I really have no idea what it is worth but you have first dibs if you want it. I don't know when Yamaha changed the rear shock mounting hardware but it mounts well on my 84/FJ

It should fit fine on my '84 then as well! Truthfully I'm not sure what they're going for or it's value, I just know my stock shock has almost 61,000 miles on it, which is about 60,000 too many. A 11" long hose and a little trimming you can get the side panel to fit..
