Title: Fabricating a pillion back rest
Post by: Tengu on March 07, 2012, 06:25:29 PM
Has anyone done this?

I have the idea of getting a second set of pillion handles (stays) and welding some uprights onto each one so that I can build a backrest and bolt it onto the stays.

In theory it sounds simple so long as I can find the aluminium plate / bar and find someone who can weld it up for me
(I can do all the design work but dont have a workshop at the moment)

With a few modification skills and some knowledge of upholstery, should be no big deal to construct something like that.

Get everything built, then carry it to a welder.  Minimal charge that way.  Or, do like I have an invest $50K into shop equipment and build your own stuff.   :yahoo:
