Title: New to forum long time FJ rider
Post by: neo297 on February 27, 2012, 02:13:44 PM
Hi just wanted to introduce myself my name is Paul I have 2 FJ's. The original is an '84 fj1100 thats been modified. Engine is from a '92 1200 with 10.5:1 wiseco pistons, valve job with high strength springs, shaved head, dyna 2000 ignition and coils, kehein 37mm cr carbs with stacks, supertrap 4 into 1 exhaust. It has 92 1200 forks, fzr 600 17"front wheel and brakes, cbr 600 17" rear wheel and brakes with a corbin gunfighter and lady saddle. It is a screamer but was a daily driver for 10 years, thats every day no car, with a 5 year commute of 160 miles round trip along with weekend riding for fun. Unfortunately it looks like it. My new baby is a 1986 fj1200 I just picked up this weekend. It has F1 slip ons a K&N filter and corbin gunfighter saddle and otherwise stock. It had 9700 miles showing on the odometer and the body is pristine! I do all my own work except machining and love these bikes they do most everything well and can be used for long touring as well as spirited street riding. I have ridden several 1000 mile days on an fj 600 and 1200 and at 43 years old would almost do it again with how good this new bike rides!!

Welcome Paul, you will find that many of us have multiple FJ's.

I am a fan of the Stormy Red and Quartz Silver '84 FJ's, although I also enjoy my rubber mounted '92.

I don't have time for both bikes.... yet I still desire the (theft resistant) White '89's like Ed has or the bitchen Blue/Grey '90's.

SWMBO says, "If you bring home 1 more fucking FJ, *you* will be sleeping in the garage with them...."  She snores anyway.... :sarcastic:

Welcome amigo, Cheers!

It was done probably 15 years ago by a friend who had a shop and machine tools,it was mostly spacer fabrication and the brace for the brake caliper was mounted on the swingarm with 2 bolts through the swingarm vertically. My friend did the suspension/wheels I did the electrical and carb work. I had the head work and cylinder work done by my friend at his machine shop then I put in the valve springs, seals and pistions.
