Title: Power socket, Hella type, where to mount on my 3CV.
Post by: ELIMINATOR on February 26, 2012, 08:32:46 AM
OK I've decided to put a power socket onto the FJ. For various reasons, it needs to be on the L/H side. I'm hoping to put it onto the fairing somewhere, anywhere to avoid?

The power socket and female connector would need 42mm clearance, this doesn't include it being wired up.

I'll be using it for the battery charger, and to power my recent DIY heated jacket liner.

All suggestions welcome.

I've seen several FJ's with a socket mounted on the left inner fairing panel, just above the choke cable.

Do you use a tank bag? If so, I've used one of these.  Adapters for whatever type of plugs are readily available.  The advantage of this setup is using a Battery Tender cable to supply power.

Thanks guys, nice to see a photo, to know that I'm not going to drill a hole and to find out it fouls something on the inside. :good2:
