Title: GSX750F rim?
Post by: Antonn3 on February 24, 2012, 08:04:49 PM
Hello all, would anyone happen to know if a rim off a '89 GSX750F (not a GSXR750) will fit on a 85 FJ?
Thanks in advance.

Tony,

Probably.
Do you know the wheel and axle bearing size for the GSX wheel?
The FJ axle is 20mm dia.
Do you have access to the GSX wheel to measure?  If so, see if the whole assembly is same or slightly shorter than the FJ between the swingarms.

I'd advise you ask the seller to measure.  Most will be happy to provide info so you'll buy.
You may be able to check at least the axle diameter and the wheel size by looking at a parts diagram.  You should be able to find a parts seller online that has this available.

I don't think it will fit.  I have in my possession a GSX-F caliper & mount, and the mount is for a smaller diameter axle.  At a minimum, you're probably looking at a bearing hunt/swap.  Not undo-able, but you might be on a Unicorn/snipe hunt.
