I installed the hardbags off of a 2001 Kawasaki Concours onto my '86 FJ1200. I had all the Kawasaki mounting hardware and the bags, so I thought why not. I like having bags, and those were free. I will post some pics tomorrow, and hopefully I don't offend anyone with the old man bags on the FJ. lol
modifiers can do whatever they want
(as long as the bags arent green)
KOokaloo!
Pics please. How much fab work was required for this?

Sorry, been busy. Will try to get pics uploaded tomorrow. I had to make two brackets per side to utilize the Kawasaki stuff. I am not a welder, so mine are bolted. I can rig just about anything, though. lol. I looked at the other options for bags, but didn't like using the taillight mounting tabs. Drilled the frame and bolted my own brackets to it.
Ok here's some pics. Please excuse the dirt. lol

I know somethings are missing. I only had it out to take the pics. Still working on cleaning it up and stuff.

Pay no attention to the rusty truck. lol. Planning on remounting the taillights to the license plate bracket. Should line up in the slots..

Need to take the Concours name tag off the bag.

Concours antler is connected to the Concours frame mount then to my makeshift brackets. As you can see I had to leave the rear frame cover off for these bags. Not really noticable when the bags are on it.

And again

Lower antler support goes from top bracket to the rearset.

Not stylish but very functional as them bags are quite roomy. Where there is a will, there is a way and you had the will. It was good to see what you did, thanks for posting.
Ya know, one of the things that really impresses me about this forum is the sheer amount of ingenuity displayed. Great job. :good2:
Thats great.
i too considering putting large bags on my fj. i had picked-up a set of FJR1300 bags, but decided they where too big for the big and cancelled the build.
good job, i love seeing what is done to our bikes, as it gives me new ideas as well.
